It's been two months since I've been here, and today is the day a new greenie comes up in the box. Right now, I was with Chuck. I had a little time before I had to go back to work, and Chuck wasn't busy so I started talking to him while walking around the glade. Our conversation got cut short by the box alarm.

The greenie was almost here.

Me and Chuck glanced at each other before jogging to the box, waiting till it stopped. We met Gally and Newt there. Newt greeted me with a kiss on the cheek, while Gally ruffled my hair. Ever since I told him he was my older brother, that's the greeting I always got from him. I nudged him with my elbow, playfully glaring at him.

Soon, the box had come to a stop. The greenie was here. Some boys opened the it, revealing a scared boy looking up at everyone. His eyes met mine for a second, he stared at me with confusion while I stared at him with furrowed eyebrows. He looks familiar, like that one boy in my dreams.

Our little staring contest got cut off by Gally jumping down into the box and getting into his face. I overheard Gally say, "Day one greenie, rise and shine." Before roughly pulling him out of the box. All of a sudden, he pushed past all of us, and made a run for it.

The boys had started cheering, while one of the gladers, Zart yelled, "Hey, we got a runner!" He kept on running, before he tripped and face planted into the ground. The cheering gladers all let out groans and laughs. While they were doing that, I was staring at him, my brows still furrowed. He looks so familiar. The boy looked up from where he was and looked around in confusion. Gally and another boy then picked him up and threw him in the pit, leaving him for Alby.

The boys and I all soon went back to work. I was working with Newt in the garden's. From the corner of my eye, I could see Alby and the greenie in the middle of the glade. I guess Newt noticed too because he grabbed my hand and started dragging me to them.

"That, we don't know." I heard Alby say to the boy just as we got to them.

"Hey, are you alright, Alby?" Newt asked once we were right beside them, gaining Alby and the greenie's attention. The greenie's eyes turned to Newt then to me, he looked at me confused. Probably because all he's seen is boys. But, part of me can't help but stare at him, he looks so familiar. I'm sure he's the boy I've seen in my dreams. Newt noticed a little, and put his arm around my waist, pulling me closer to him. Everyone in the glade knew about our relationship, so I guess he was trying to show the greenie to back off.

"Green Bean, meet Newt," the greenie and Newt met eyes and shook hands firmly, "Whenever I'm not around, he's in charge." Alby told him, making Newt chuckle a little.

"It's a good thing you're always around then." Newt said to Alby, glancing at him, before looking back at the boy.

"And this is y/n." Alby introduced me to him. I put my hand out for him to shake, and he took it. He looked at me with a little bit of confusion still.

"That was some dash you made earlier," Newt spoke up, catching greenie's attention after we dropped hands, "For a second, I thought you had the chops to be a runner... till you face-planted." He smirked slightly, chuckling a little bit.

"Wait, a 'runner'?" Greenie questioned curiously. Newt and I looked at Alby, making him sigh before putting a hand on our shoulders, "Y/n, Newt, do me a favor. Go find Chuck."

We both nodded before leaving the two, trying to find Chuck. We soon found him and told him Alby needed him before going back to work.

After a little while, something gained all the gladers attention. I looked up, seeing my brother shove the greenie to the ground harshly. We all ran forwards when we saw the boy start to freak out.

"Take it easy!" Newt said as he was running up to the greenie, several boys following him or were already there, surrounding the boy, "Just relax." Newt tried to calm him, but it didn't work.

"What the hell is wrong with you guys?" Greenie exclaimed.

"Just calm down, all right?" I tried calming him.

"Why won't you tell me what's out there?" He said, glancing at me and the boys.

"We're just trying to protect you." Newt reassured him, "It's for your own good." He said slowly.

"You guys can't just keep me here." He said, clearly mad at all this.

"I can't let you leave." Alby said calmly.

"Why not?" But before anyone could answer him, a large gust of wind came, making everyone cover their eyes from the dirt and dust in the air now. Slowly, the doors began to shut, the sound of gears and the ground rumbling was the only thing you could hear. We all watched the doors close, the gladers with blank faces, while the greenie had a confused look sat on his face. Soon, the doors were closed, trapping us from whatever is in the maze.

"Next time, I'm gonna let you leave." I heard Gally say to him before walking away, going back to work. I stood there for a moment before Newt grabbed my hand and we walked back to the garden, getting ready to work again.

I couldn't help but think if we were ever gonna get out of here. Newt must have noticed my expression, because he put an arm around my waist, making me look up at him. "You alright, love?" He asked, concerned. I nodded, putting my arms around his neck and leaning up to kiss him.

He kissed back, deepening it a little. We continued, till he pulled away, still holding me in his arms. He knew there was something wrong, but knew not to push. He pecked my lips before going back to work, me following.

What would I do without Newt?
