9. Laughter

"There was no one around. I panicked. I don't like being alone." I squeeze him tighter as I think about what happened earlier.

"Well I'm even happier that I found you now." Daichi smiles.

"Me too."

"We can talk more later. Class already started." He looks at the time. "I was looking for you for half an hour."

"Oh sorry." I realize I'm still on top of him and quickly scoot off of him. I look away, trying not to blush.

That would've been really awkward if someone happened to be walking by.

"It's not your fault." He gets up, "Are you ok?" He asks and holds out a hand to help me up.

My face feels hot. Am I blushing? Oh shit. Oh shit. Oh shit.

"Suga-."

"I'M FINE." I interrupt him, and take a deep breath, "I'm more than fine. I'm amazing!" I smile.

I look at him and grab his hand. He pulls me up.

"Your face is red." He says.

"NO." I quickly say, "It's not."

"I can see it." He smiles.

"What do you- no you- shush." I look away.

He laughs.

They say that the most pleasant sound to hear, is the sound of your soulmate's laugh. I never believed that. But now I do. His laugh.. it's like music to my ears.

"W-What are you laughing at?" I say glancing over at him.

"I'm sorry, it's just-" He starts, "Nevermind."

"Finish your sentence." I look at him, no longer caring whether or not I'm blushing, just curious what he wanted to say.

"It's just.. you're really cute." He pauses, "And I'm not just saying this because we're soulmates. I-I thought that ever since.. I saw you hyping yourself up in the mirror at lunch."

Oh shit he saw that. "You saw that!?" I ask even though he just mentioned it.

"Umm.. yeah." He looks away.

"Let's just.. Go back to class." I say as I walk away.

"Sugawara.." Sawamura calls out to me. I turn around, "It's that way." He says, pointing the opposite direction from where I was heading.

"I.. definitely knew that." I say, "How about you lead the way?"

He laughs, "Alright." He leads the way. I follow.

I think back to everything that's happened in the few hours I've knows Sawamura. Not much, but it all feels so special now.

I laugh.

"What are you laughing at?" He glances back at me, smiling.

"You're cute too."
