A quest is what is was, a quest to reclaim Erebor the lost dwarf mountain. Were they crazy?! My parents used to tell me stories about the great kingdom. With caves filled with gold and precious jewels, the dwarves were excellent craftsmen and the riches never ceased. Until one day a beast destroyed Dale leaving it crumbling in smoke and fire and settled in the mountain driving the dwarves out of their home.

"Even if we made it to the mountain, there would be no way in" Balin said to everyone. "The entrance was destroyed by the dragon". Gandalf then reached into his cloak and pulled out an old looking key.

"Where did you come upon this?" Thorin questioned him.

"Your father gave it to me for safe keeping and now it's yours", Gandalf said handing the key over to Thorin.

Thorin looked down at the key in his hand, and It kind of creeped me out watching him stare at it so intensely.

"What does it do?" I decided to ask. Everyone's eyes snapped to me and Thorin glared at my questioning expression.

"Where there's a key, there's a door lass" Nori said looking at me. I just nodded my head in response, Thorin must really dislike me. I kept quiet as the company continued discussing their plans.

"And that's where you would come in my dear Bilbo" Gandalf said turning to him. My eyes perked up at this and I glanced over to Bilbo who was sitting on my right side at the table.

"Me!" Bilbo yelled. "Oh no no no, I don't know what your talking about". Bilbo looked over at me

And I placed my hand down on his shoulder to calm him down. Were they crazy?! Bilbo, going on an adventure. I'd like to see them try and talk him into this.

"Yes yes, Bilbo would be a fine burglar, Smaug knows the smell of dwarves but will not recognize Bilbo's scent" Gandalf said.

I was astonished. Gandalf wanted Bilbo to be a burgaler for the trip? No, he was too small.

"And Arielle would also be a great edition to the company, with her skill in the bow and arrow and-". Gandalf didn't even finish his statement before the dwarves started shouting questions.

"Eh the bow and arrows you say, how far could you shoot?" Nori questioned.

"Well-" I started,

"How many orcs have you killed!" Yelled Bombur.

"I haven't actually-"

"Who do you think is the best fighter out of all of us?" Gloin asked.

"Maybe-"

"Who do you think is the cutest?" Fili quizzed winking at me.

"All of you!" Shouted Thorin. Everyone fell silent immediately and I looked up at Thorin who stood at the head of the table. "That is enough", I looked down at my hands and could feel Thorin's disapproving eyes lingering on me. Hey, they were the ones asking the questions! Why was he looking at me like that. "Show him the contract" Thorin commanded Ori. Bilbo got up from beside me and I followed him into the pantry room where we read over the contract. Bilbo stared down at it, analyzing every detail like I knew he would.

"What does this say?" Bilbo asked looking over to Ori.

"Oh nothing much," Ori started. "Just the usual..." I tuned him out as he continued speaking to Bilbo and looked around the table until my eyes locked with Fili's. I guess he had already been staring at me and winked when I noticed. I just smiled back before turning to meet Kili's frowning expression. He looked between Fili and I before returning to the conversation.

"Insineration!" Bilbo screeched setting the contract down on the table before fainting. I caught him before he could hit the ground, poor little Bilbo. He opened his eyes back up, and we stared at each other awhile before i helped him to his feet and walked him to the living room.

"Bilbo are you okay? You really worried me." I asked him gently.

"Oh do not worry my dearest,i just had a little fall", jeez I didn't know fainting was a usual for Bilbo, it never really happened before. Gandalf entered the room leaning on an armchair.

"Well, what do you say Bilbo, are you in for an adventure?" Gandalf asked with hope filled eyes. Bilbo stared at him for a while.

"Can you promise our safe return?" Bilbo questioned gesturing between himself and I . Gandalf looked at us both, sighed, and shook his head. I could hear the company's laughs and cheers still radiating from the dining room.

"I cannot, and if you do you come back you will not be the same". Bilbo then looked at me as he responded to Gandalf.

"Then we will not go. If I can't ensure Arielle's safety there we be no point in going no matter what treasure might be in store".

Gandalf looked at me, "I understand, it would truly be a shame if you were lost in this quest, the value of your life is worth far more than a mountain full of gold". I smiled at him kindly for that was probably one of the nicest things anyone has ever said to me, but I still felt as though I was holding Bilbo back from his dream of adventure, from our dreams. Gandalf exited the room, probably going to tell the crew that we weren't coming.

"Bilbo, why do you worry for me, you know of my fighting skills, surely I could defend myself". I said as I looked at him. He huffed running his hand through his hair before sitting down on the couch and gesturing for me to sit next to him.

"I'm not risking losing you, I will not put you in danger. If I lost you I couldn't bear the guilt". I smiled at him before pulling him into a hug.

"Then you shall go without me and share with me the wonderful adventures upon your return". He looked up at me shocked before shaking his head. I could now hear the rustling and whispering of the dwarfs letting me know that they were setting up there sleeping rolls in the main hall.

"I couldn't leave you" Bilbo shot back with wide eyes, making me burst out laughing. He was too cute but I was serious.

"This is your life and you've given me more then I could ever ask for. I will not hold you back from your dreams, please think about it. Goodnight Bilbo". I kissed his head before getting up from the couch where we sat and headed to my room. Entering the hall, all the heads of the resting dwarves and wizard snapped in my direction. I tip toed my way over the bodies and blankets with eyes on me, and made my way to the other side. Ready to leave I turned issuing my final goodbye, for I knew they would be gone when I woke.

"Gandalf, Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, Oin, Gloin, Ori, Dori, Nori, Balin, Dwalin, Fili, Kili, and Thorin" I finished, locking eyes with the king."Goodbye my friends, for it was truly a pleasure meeting you all, I wish you nothing but luck on your journey to reclaim your kingdom and to take back your home". They all smiled at me, well except for Thorin and Dwalin who kept their steel gazes locked on the floor.

"Will we see you again?" Asked Nori shly, the others nodded their heads in question, some waiting for a hopeful answer. I simply smiled, for I knew it was highly unlikely, but you never know. I made my way to the end of the hall ready to turn the corner out of their memory, but not before replying...

"Maybe... maybe some day soon". I walked into my room closing the door behind me and leaped onto my bed. I couldn't lose them, they were now my friends and I would see them again. For I had a plan.
