"Hey, do you have some food left by any chance?", he said as he casually entered her room. She had been eating her soup while watching some Netflix. "My sister raided my fridge apparently." He sat down opposite her. Sister? She didn't know he had a sister. Then again, they've only been talking regularly for a few weeks. "There's some soup left if you want." He smiled gratefully. After profusely thanking her, he took out a bowl and filled it with tomato soup. As he sat down again he said, "Olive can be so annoying sometimes. I should have never given her my spare key." Now it clicked. Olive was his sister. She mentally kicked herself for not putting that together earlier. "Luckily you have me as your neighbour to feed you", she said giving him a small smile.

They ate their soup in silence until he cleared his throat. "So, there's something we need to talk about." She raised her eyebrows, not knowing where this was going. "It's about movie night. It has to stop." She did not expect this. They were only on halfway. Why would he want to stop now? He continued, "You've fallen asleep for the last three movies. You obviously need your sleep and I'm taking away two hours of sleep because of movie night." "What? No! We can't stop", she argued. She didn't want to stop. It was the one thing she looked forward to in her tiring week. He shook his head. "I'm not going to budge. Either you make time, or movie night ends."

So it really had come to this. Alex had tried many times to make her study less but had never succeeded before. Looks like he did. She sighed, "Okay fine. I'll stop an hour earlier."

She was tired again. Last night, she'd had a nightmare. Awake at 5 a.m. she couldn't sleep anymore so she had studied instead. That way, she had something to focus on.

She turned her head to hide a yawn. If he had any idea of how exhausted she really was, he'd force her to go to sleep every night at 6 p.m. Of course she knew she had fallen asleep every time but she'd always ended up in her own bed. He had presumably carried her and she expected him to do the same thing again. I wasn't that big of a deal.
