~A Good Thing~ Muinezu

Muichiro Tokito stood at the cash register

For someone who works at a Christmas store, he wasn't very jolly

His 15 minute break was happening in five minutes so there was something to look forward to

A woman walked up to a the counter and he said the mandatory phrase

While he was scanning the gifts the woman broke the silence

"So are you excited for Christmas?" She asked

"No, I hate Christmas" Muichiro said in a bland tone

The woman seemed shocked, but quickly went back to her normal smile

"May I ask why?" She asked again

He sighed. He saw no reason not to tell her since he was never going to meet her again

"Because my entire family died on Christmas Eve" He replied

This definitely made everyone super awkward and there was tension everywhere

Then the woman asked a question which surprised Muichiro himself

"Do you have your break soon? We can talk more if you want"

Muichiro was dumbfounded. The few times he said this to a person, they either walked away or went awkwardly away

"Whatever"

The woman smiled and walked to the side of the counter to wait for Muichiro

It was the longest five minutes of his life. Every minute felt like a year

Finally he finished and went out with her

They got coffee and sat in the park.

Muichiro didn't even know why he agreed to go with the woman. 'I guess it's nice to have someone to talk to' he thought

"So why exactly do you hate Christmas?" She asked

"I hate it because of basically everything. I lost my family 6 years ago, also lost all my friends on Christmas, and got evicted on Christmas" Muichiro replied with a his eyes empty and with a small frown

"So you just want something good to come your way, right?" She asked

Muichiro shrugged

The woman took some time to think

Then it hit her

"I can be the good thing that comes your way! I'll be your friend and stick with you through thick and thin!" She yelled

Muichiro was startled. He was sure he would scare her away, or his attitude would push her over the edge

"Why are you doing that even if you have nothing to gain from it?" Muichiro asked

The woman turned around

"What do you mean I don't gain anything from it? I gain your happiness and that's enough to make me happy!"

A complete stranger was offering to become Muichiro's friend and the good thing that comes into his life

It warmed Muichiro's heart a little

"S-Sure" he replied

"Can you give me your number please?" She asked

Muichiro reluctantly told her his number and she called the number

Muichiro's phone rang and he gave her a look

"I just wanted to make sure you didn't give me a fake one!" She said, being able to read the look off his face

She was satisfied after checking that his phone was ringing

"My name is Nezuko Kamado! What's yours?"

"Why are you telling me your name? I could be a creep"

Nezuko pondered on this question

"I don't mind! Because if you were a creep, you wouldn't say all of this! And besides, I'll just kick you in the face if you are!"

"Muichiro Tokito" he mumbled

"Hmm?"

"My name is Muichiro Tokito"

"Muichiro is a great name!"

Nezuko's glanced at her watch

"Oh no! I have to be somewhere in 15 minutes! I'll give you a call as soon as I can alright?" She said while picking up her belongings

Muichiro nodded and watched her run off into the distance

He sighed and got up from the bench.

'She probably won't call' he thought

He thought of her bright smile and cheery attitude

He smiled to himself and his heart started to beat

Muichiro normally never liked people like that

But deep down he knew he wanted her to call

Since this could be the 'good thing' he always wished for

I hope it's ok! I don't really know how to write that well of use fancy words because I was never good at like writing exercises. I'm also really self conscious about writing, but I gathered the courage to publish it. Hopefully I was able to write something that you guys enjoyed
