(THE NEXT MORNING)
I wake up to this odd feeling inside me, like something bad is going to happen today, though I'm not so sure why until I hear a knock at my door so I get up putting on one of my cloaks around my nightgown as I then open my door seeing Sir Leon standing there.
"You're needed in the Council Chambers, My Lady." He says, right as Emma comes in to help me change into a dress.
"Just a second, Sir Leon." I say as he bows his head and waits for me as I close the door. I notice that the castle was getting colder so I put a cloak on as I walk out of the door Sir Leon escorting me to the Council chambers now. This is when I see Gaius kneeling down by someone's body as Uther talks with him.
"What's happened to him?" Uther asks the Court Physician as I look to Arthur and Merlin as I stand beside them now.
"I don't know, Sire. It's the second case I've seen today." Gaius tells the king, I was surprised that this was the second case for him to figure out what has happened.
"Why didn't you report it to me?" Uther asks him, I couldn't look away from the body now, the way how white the skin is and how the blue veins showing and how pale the eyes were looking also as I hear Gaius saying:
"I was attempting to find the cause."
"What did you conclude?" Uther asks worry in his voice slightly showing by now.
"I don't think it's time to hurry to conclusions. The scientific process is a long one." Gaius says, I have that odd feeling appear inside of me again as I could see that everyone was worrying more and more now.
"What are you concealing from me?" Uther asks him this time.
"Sire, I have seen nothing like it. The victims are dying in 24 hours, and it's spreading fast." At how Gaius said this it made me grab Arthur's sleeve as he then stares at me, seeing that I was becoming scared at all of this. He lays a hand on the hand that had his sleeve in it to comfort me before we hear Uther asking:
"What is the cause?" I was kind of scared of what could be Gaius's answer at this point.
"I think you should say that the cause, the most likely cause, is sorcery." Gaius tells the King as he then pulls Arthur aside.
"We must find who did this." Uther whispers to his son now, I look to Merlin and Gaius as he's standing by us now.
"I will, Father." Arthur says I notice the stone-cold side of him was showing as well.
"Conduct door-to-door searches. Increase your presence in the town. Double the guards on all the gates. And lend the physician your servant." I could tell Arthur didn't like the sound of the last part that his father said to him.
"Merlin? But..." He was about to say something more on the subject but his father stops him by saying:
"We need Gaius to find a cure. He needs all the help we can give him. If Gaius is right, believe me, this city will be wiped out. This is the kind of magic that undermines our authority, challenges all we've done. If we cannot control this plague, people will turn to magic for a cure. We have to find this sorcerer, and quickly."
I could tell this was going to be hard for Arthur because of how he was acting right now before saying:
"Yes, Father." As some of the court is told to leave. And I was about to turn until Uther says:
"I believe there's no time for us to go on that riding trip this morning, lady Mira, I apologize again."
"My Lord, I understand completely no need to apologize at all."
