After school, Bella decided to come over. Hours passed by as me and Bella catch up about things we've missed from being apart from each other.
"How did you meet the new guy?" She asked quietly.
I didn't want to give her all the details because really, it was pathetic. I avoid telling her that I meet with him yesterday where he helped me during a panic attack.
"Oh we have History together, and Science and Spanish." I only knew that because my teachers called out his name in order to mark us present for class, but when I think about it, Dean didn't even show up today.
"That's a lot of classes. Some girls might consider you lucky like Cassie."
"Actually, Cassie is in my Spanish and Science class so..." It'll be hard to interact with him as Cassie breathes over my shoulder every ten seconds.
"Oh, well good for her. Lord knows she needs a distraction," she says as she lays back on my bed closing her eyes.
"...So do I," I lightly murmur.
Before I knew it, Bella propped her elbow giving herself support, and looks at me in confusion. I suddenly realize she heard what I thought no one could hear.
"Alex, please tell me you're not crushing on him too?" Her tone had an ounce of worry behind her words.
"Is that such a bad thing? I mean I am single. Why should I not pursue him?" Hopefully, she understands where I'm coming from because she's the only person I trust to tell.
"Of course you do," she chuckles then throws a pillow at my face for being intense.
"It's just...are you on the rebound or something?"
"Why do you have to say that. What I feel about Dean has nothing to do with Jack. I wouldn't hurt him like that." Honestly, I'm already getting tired of this conversation.
"I'm not saying that just be careful. Jack still thinks you're his and a part of him believes you two will get back together." Sudden anger fills my body as I clench my fists.
"I will never, get back with him. Ever. He hurt me at a time I needed him the most. Just because I might forgive him, doesn't mean all's good and well. Fuck him for thinking that."
Bella rubs my back to comfort me as she sees how much of a touchy subject this is. I'm so tired of feeling this way. A part of me just wants to leave this small little town and all it's suffocating drama.
"Shit, it's almost nine o'clock. We better prep things up before they get here." I nod in agreement and head downstairs to the kitchen.
We set up a variety of bowls filled with multiple kinds of junk food. I grab the red solo cups and neatly place them on the left side of the kitchen island so they'd be near the sink. Bella puts the chasers on the dining room table as I clean the house. After tidying things up, everything looks perfect.
"Oh, ask Ethan for the speaker. We'll need that."
"Okay." I dash up the stairs skipping a few steps, then rapidly knock on his door.
Ethan opens it but doesn't say a word.
"Can I borrow the speaker, they'll be here soon," I asked nicely since the speaker is Ethans.
"Sure. It's on my laptop." I walk in and see it on the floor. Ethan really needs to take care of his possessions. We have nice and expensive things but that doesn't mean we should treat them poorly. The cord is tied between different wires from his desk so it takes a few seconds to completely untangle it.
