Chapter 4
Trying to stay focus on my midterms was proving to be difficult. Every time I got to a non-interesting part my mind would wonder back to the date I had with Patrick. I don't know what made this man stand out from the rest. This has made my mood, sense getting here, extremely uplifted. I wish the same can be said about Marco's mood. I don't know what has crawled up his ass, but he has been so moody lately. We literally got into a fight over dishes the other day. I had just made some food and I put the pans to soak. Next thing I knew he was yelling about the kitchen always being a mess. He tried putting the blame on me and I got offended so I started yelling back. Ever since then he hasn't been so talkative to me.
Sure, he would acknowledge me, but we wouldn't go into deep conversation. This has been the longest we've gone with such tension between us. The last time we fought, the issue got resolved in less than a day. Now we are going off of three days without this... whatever it is, being solved.
I checked the time on my computer and noticed it was getting late. I looked outside the window to see that it was already dark out. I hated walking in the dark! But I didn't want to bug Marco to come pick me up; I didn't want to get into another argument. Knowing that my only option to get home was to walk I decided to pack up and leave before it gets any later.

I forgot how creepy it got walking around this portion of town to get to my apartment. Like I said it's not far from school, but it still had some rough areas to go through before reaching the good locations at the end. I felt as if my mind started to play tricks on me because I felt like I was being watched. I felt the shivers going down my back when I heard something move down the alley to my right. I brought my stuff closer to my body and moved my legs to go faster.
I knew better to investigate down a dark alley. I never understood why in horror moves when the people will ask, "Who's there?" and then move forward more into the darkness when no one replied. Like dumbass there is something there that is going to kill you. That's how people die, dumb and curiosity.
I looked up from the ground and noticed the sign to the dinner that is a block from my apartment. "Thank GOD! I am almost home." I started to feel my body relax from the tension I was holding in. I cracked my knuckles in hope to release more tension. "I'm solving this issue with Marco once I get home... No way in hell will I be going through this nighttime walks again."
As I turned down the corner on the street that my apartment laid on, I notice a big crowd standing outside my building. I could see lights flashing coming from police cars parked right at the front entrance. I made my feet go faster hoping to find out what was happening. Once I got to the crowd of people, I noticed that the police had tapped off the entrance to the building. I looked around and noticed that people were dressed in night robs or pajamas. I guess, whatever happed they forced all the residents out of the building. That is when I took more notice at the door. From the looks of it; it was broken into. There was glass everywhere.
I felt my anxiety starting to rise. Who would want to break into these apartments? They aren't exactly upscaled; meaning not the wealthy lived here. I looked around the crowd again hoping I could spot Marco, but I couldn't see him anywhere. My legs started to shake with the rising of my panic. I hope he is okay.
I did end up spotting the one neighbor who lives right next to our unit talking to a policeman. I started to push my way through the crowd to get to her. I wanted to ask if she knows where Marco is at once she is done talking to the police. As I got closer, I started to pick up some of the conversation.
"No, I didn't hear a thing at first. I was so occupied with cleaning my bathroom."
"And when did you notice that something was wrong and call 9-1-1?"
