Lexa's POV
Waking up my visions blurry. I can't tell where I am. I'm unfamiliar with my surroundings.. it seems like a metal box. As I look around my head begins pounding. What the hell happened? I clutch my head with my hands but still look around. I can see a few familiar faces: Indra, Lincoln, Nyko, Anya, and a few others from the 12 clans. I can see they are just as confused as me, searching the room for evidence of where we are. As I become more aware of my surrounding I stand up, wobbling a bit but making it to my feet. Then I see a window... we're not on the ground anymore. "Indra.. look." I say pointing to the window. We could see the ground. But we weren't on it. We were surrounded by stars, floating above our home. It seems we were in the sky. How the hell did this happen..Clarke's POV
I can hear commotion outside of my cell. Everyone seems to be shouting and heading in one direction. "They're here!" I can make out one of the voices to say. Who the hell could be here?Once the stammering around calms down I hear my door start to unlock and see a familiar face. "Mom?" I say confused at her presence. "Shhh.." she whispers as she walks in and closes the door behind her. "What the hell is going on?" I say. She looks around my cell, I'm guessing at the drawing on the walls and floor. "We have visitors.." she says. I look at her with a confused look until she finishes "..from the ground." "What?! The ground?! How?.. Wha.." she stops me and says "Clarke I don't have much time to explain. But Clarke.. the ground is survivable. These people have lived down there all this time. But.. there's a problem.." she pauses to look at the ground. Getting impatient I say "What is it mom?!" Hearing footsteps pass the door my mom puts a finger to her lips and steps to where she would be hidden behind the door if it opened. Once we are sure the coast is clear she says "We don't think they speak English. It seems like their language is unlike any of what we have heard. The people we sent down to see if it was livable became quickly aware of the others on the ground already and a few of them were taken back up so we can observe them." I look at her disgusted and say "What the hell mom?! 'Observe' them? What are they, animals? These are people too. They just took them from their home, they're probably scared for their life." "Clarke I know but until we know what they are capable of we need to take precautions." She says. I scoff but then look back at her. "So why are you telling me this?" I say. She looks back at me a bit concerned and I give her another confused look. "Since we have extra prisoners they don't have enough cells for the grounders to each get their own..." She says. The hint of hope I have begins to fade away. "Okay.. and?" I ask beginning to worry. She fiddles with her fingers until she says "So that means you're getting a roommate.. one of the grounders. But don't worry! They are all checked for weapons before we send them to cells." I begin to smile thinking of having someone to talk to. Maybe I could teach them English with the help of my drawing. "That actually sounds fun." I say. She frowns at me "You need to be careful Clarke. These people could be dangerous, we aren't sure what they're capable of." She says as a flood of worry clouds her eyes. To reassure her I say "I'll be fine mom. I'll keep my guard up. I know how to defend myself and since you guys are taking weapons away I'll be fine." She just nods before listening out the door for footsteps. When she hears none she disappears out the door and locks it behind her. I let my thoughts fill the room, thinking about getting a new roommate.. or would you call it cell mate? Whatever it is I'm excited.
Lexa's POV
I'm talking with my people, telling them to only speak Trigedasleng until we know where we are and who's listening when a door opens nearby and we can hear footsteps near. I reach for my sword.. but it's gone. As confusion pulls my focus the door to our room opens and a strange man appears at the opening. He smiles at us and speaks in English "Hello everyone. We aren't sure if you guys speak English but since no one seems to want to tell us I'll speak it anyway. I want to assure you that you are safe here, and should not be alarmed. We want to learn about your people and how you guys live down on Earth. Until a few days ago we weren't aware that there was life on the ground and weren't even sure if it was livable. So imagine our surprise when a whole population of humans are surviving on the ground."Something about this man unsettles me. He looks around and no one speaks, as they obey my order. He gives a look of disappointment and then speaks up once again. "Alright then. We will be taking you guys one by one to your rooms where you'll be set with a roommate. I do hope you understand we are not here to hurt you." He gives a slight bow before exiting the room.
"Heda?" Someone says. I assume they're asking for the plan. But the truth is I have no idea what the plan is. These people seem nice and like they only want to help but they did take away our weapons and rip us from our home. "Be ready for anything and don't let your guard down. But also don't engage first. We still don't know if these people are bad or good." I say in Trigedasleng. Everyone nods in response and turn their attention to the door, now opening once again. A shorter man appears and he looks around then points at me. He waves his hand in his direction, hoping for me to understand. I nod at him then at my people. I follow him willingly, making it seem like I have trust in them so I can see more of this floating building, but also not changing my emotionless expression. He brings me around until we stop in front of a door that has many locks. Once he gets it unlocked he opens it and motions me in. I look in to see a blonde haired girl with the bluest eyes I've ever seen. She looked at me, smiling, almost excited to see me. I kept my emotionless expression as I walked in and looked around. It looked much like a cell but was covered in drawings. I was startled by the sudden closing of a door and spun around putting my hands on the locked door. "Shit." I say in Trigedasleng, making sure not to blow my cover.
"Hi." The girl behind me says. I turn to look at her with my emotionless eyes and say nothing. She speaks again "I'm Clarke.. if you can understand me." She points at herself stupidly and says "Clarke." I hold back my urge to laugh as I feel a sudden growth of comfort. I scold myself in my head for beginning to break my mask and manage to keep it up. "Sooo.. I don't know if you can understand me but I want you to know you can trust me.. if you can understand me. If not I probably look really stupid right now." She laughs at herself and then begins again. "I'm sorry for what my people did to yours. They didn't deserve to be taken from their families... but regardless I'm excited to get to know you.. and maybe teach you English?" I let myself show a little smile.. just this once. She seems like the most genuine person I have seen so far in this place and I want to show my appreciation. As she sees my smile she looks accomplished and steps a bit closer. "What's.. your name." She says pointing at me, trying to get me to understand even though I already do. I hesitate telling her at first but then before I know it I'm speaking "Lexa." I say. After I realize what I've done I cover my mouth with my hand. "It's ok." She says "So, Lexa, you do speak English?" She can see me hesitate and continues "You're safe around me. Trust me I'm not too happy with these people either." I don't know why I am putting so much trust in this girl I just met. This goes against everything I stand for but this girl.. for some reason I am comfortable around.
I hold back the urge to talk with every muscle in my body, and instead walk further into the room, looking around. These drawing are amazing.. and I can only assume they are works of 'Clarke' as she says her name is. 'Clarke of the Sky People' I repeat in my mind. I can feel her eyes on me as I walk around searching the place. But for some reason it doesn't make me mad or uncomfortable.
Clarke's POV
I'm so excited to get to know my new roommate. I already know her name is Lexa and I'm pretty sure she speaks English but is just shy. I watch her as she looks around and stops her gaze at the window above. I walk up right next to her and as our shoulders touch she tenses up, but quickly calms down. "Home?" I said pointing to Earth, hoping she's understand. It takes a second before she nods and whispers, almost too quiet for me to hear "Home."
