It was a wizard's favorite time of year, the school year was just starting and the leaves had begun to drift from the trees, clinging to the breeze. For two families, the Edwins and the Weasleys, it was time to reconnect and join together again. "Lydia!" The Weasley matriarch shouted to the familiar group in front of her and her kin. The group consisted of a studious, stern-looking family, juxtaposed against the livelihood of the Weasleys. The families had been connected for generations, bonds of service and sacrifice tying them together. Seemingly an outlier, the oldest child of the Edwins, Antionette, seemed to light up at the company headed towards them.
Antionette Edwin was her family's golden child. Slytherin's star keeper for three years running, prefect-in-training, and top of her classes, she was all a pureblood family could want. At least she was in their presence.
"Boys, step to it! Say hello!" Molly Weasley said to the twin boys behind her, quickly snapping their attention to the girl in front of them. In a blur of red hair and golden scarves, Fred and George quickly wrapped themselves around the girl, who despite her height, was still a full head shorter. "Well, if it isn't my favorite competitor! How've you been, Enetta? I mean, Antionette.." George said, grinning at the only person who'd successfully called a majority of his distraction tactics during quidditch.
Despite her quiet presentation around her family, Antionette was the loudest one on the field at any given time. Because of her rowdy callings and warnings, her team had remained undefeated for three years. Her talent for disruption and Slytherin pride earned her the name "Emerald Banshee." Over time, the name combined with hers whittled its way down to a simple "Enetta."
"I've been well, George. You?" She asked, noticing his monogrammed scarf and quickly donning her own. While George's was homemade and loved, Enetta's was refined and precise, matching the rest of her family's polished attire. She'd always wished for one like the Weasleys. "I missed you something wicked, Nettie," George said, drawing her in again. In the embrace with George, Antionette noticed Fred slinking away.
George and Enetta had been friends for as long as they could remember, growing up conjoined at the hip. Despite her connection to George, Enetta had never been quite as close with Fred. She didn't mind though, the two of them having enough siblings to fill the gap. "Nice to see you too, Freddie. It's been too long." Enetta slipped her way out of George's grasp and headed to go hug Fred, abruptly getting cut off.
"Last boarding call! Last call!" A conductor shouted from the express. Within the blink of an eye, Enetta and the twins found themselves being ushered onto the train. In a flurry of blown kisses and goodbyes, Enetta caught a glimpse of Fred, who was already looking at her. She'd never noticed how his eyes caught the light when they flashed towards hers. At that second, she wondered how she'd gone so long without realizing it. It was only his eyes that drew her in and only for a second. Right?
