I sat on the bed with a dress in my hands. After about 45 minutes, I finally found what I thought would be suitable for dinner with Justin's family tomorrow. It was a maroon dress that had a straight cut neckline, no sleeves and a cute little gold figure belt. This would have to do. The back was all maroon lace but I thought that was alright. I wouldn't look too basic in it.

Justin knocked on the door, cutting me from my thoughts. I'd spent all morning beating myself up about being good enough.

I looked up at him and put on a smile.

I still had to find shoes, I thought randomly.

"This is where you're hiding." He smiled slightly as he stood at the door.

"I wasn't hiding." I said.

He closed the door behind him.

"You found a dress. It's beautiful."

"You haven't even seen it." I looked at him.

"You're right. But I do know that you make everything look beautiful with very little effort."

I smiled slightly.

"You're really good with words, Mr Bieber."

Justin's smile got a bit bigger.

"You alright?" He asked.

"I guess."

He sat next to me but said nothing.

"You think your parents will like me?" I looked at him.

"They'll love you." He said.

I looked down at the dress in my hands. I figured it would be about knee-length. Knee-length was always good. My mom wore knee-length dresses to church, I remembered vaguely.

"I'm scared." I whispered.

Justin took my hand.

"You don't have to come with me tomorrow, baby. My parents just want to make sure I'm really okay after... I can set up another time for you to meet them. I don't want to rush you."

"No, you already told them I'd come. It would be rude not to show up." I said.

Justin smiled slightly.

"I'm just nervous. Is that normal? I'm scared they won't like me. They don't have to but I do hope they like me though."

"You make me happy. Of course they'll like you." Justin assured me.

I bit my lip.

"My mom wouldn't have believed it if I brought you home."

"Why not?"

I smiled.

"Because... You're Justin Bieber. She would've passed out or something."

Justin chuckled.

"You're over exaggerating."

"I'm not." I said, "We just always believed that we didn't deserve much good in this world. Even though my mom had lots of hope for me, I knew that she'd given up on a lot. If I showed up with you to introduce you... She'd find a bad explanation in her head to justify the situation."

"A bad explanation?"

"Yeah. She woulda thought I drugged you or something."

Justin's smile broadened slightly but there was sadness in his eyes.

"What was your mom's name?" He asked.

"Pearl Vanessa Banks." I smiled fondly. "She loved the Vanessa name more though."
