The ominous silence fled throughout Hallingham Manor as night consumed day into nothing but an unforgettable darkness. The moon hung in the sky like a stage light beaming down on the manor. The halls and corridors empty and soundless. The gentle breeze sailing through a tiny gap in the stained window. The purple, satin curtains swayed elegantly as the night began to play its gentle lullaby. The Hallingham family were amidst their dreams. The eldest sister ,Malora, was dreaming of what she read in The Great Gatesby and her younger sister ,Melissa, dreaming of becoming a princess. Then there was their father ,Malcom, who didn't dream as he grew up in a society where dreams were for the faint-hearted only. Finally there was the mother,Elena, a stunning woman who had her own way of doing things, but sadly was dreaming of her horrid childhood.Out of the silence of the Manor a china vase fell to the floor, shattering into millions of shards. Malcom awoke at the sound of the vase and quickly and quietly lit a candle and headed for the stairs. Each step he made a floorboard would creak as he proceeded down the stairs to the living room. He looked around, the candle flame flickering with every movement he made.'Hello' he called into the silence.'I-is someone there'? Footsteps from which room he didn't know started to walk towards him each one more spine-chilling than the last. The closer they got the more terrified Malcom became.'Show yourself' Malcom shouted. The footsteps were now right behind him. Malcom could feel a cold draught whistle through him.He turned around to look for an open window but instead saw a shadow lurking by the library door. His face turned pale and he ran upstairs to wake up the family. But when he went to wake Melissa she had mysteriously disappeared from her bed. He searched for her in the room but she had vanished without a trace and as they could do nothing they fled the Manor never to return. And as for the disappearence case, it wasn't properly solved until two determind people were willing enough to solve it.
