Far, far away in a land overrun with populace of different species, our tale begins.
Along a long and narrow cliff the cry of a child screeches through the trees and flows freely along the echoing breeze.
The trees rustle roughly as the screams grow ever stronger and more weary.
Men raced around frantically, screaming in turn. The sound of metal clashing heavily against metal filled the cavern walls.
Creatures, some may call abnormalities, took to the skies and led the land into a large battle.
A soldier found the screaming child and lifted him up, promising protection if he promised to remain silent. Roars of demons and spirits flew through the air, the boy gripped the soldiers garments warily and stilled his unnerved breath.
Over head the leader of the spirits took to the skies, sending a massive flood of demonic energy throughout the valley. The men and women faced each other and then turned to the boy, guilt overriding their conscious.
"There's no other way! This is our only solution." The soldier said, "He's an orphan. It matters not!"
A woman fell to her knees in horror, another man joined her and they nodded. Accepting the circumstances and watched as the soldier fled the scene with a couple men hurrying to his aid.
The men placed the boy on the icy cement and promised him that everything would be okay. The boy nodded, the innocence of the boy scarred the hearts of the men. They then placed braces firmly onto his hands, to hold him in place, just in case his unwavering trust took another turn.
As they finished locking they began their mantras. Fire and magic flew around the boy as the spirit was sealed into a hooded cloth, he watched in awe as the magic flew around. It looked as lovely as a flower blooming in the morning dew. The soldiers lifted the hooded cloak with caution and then walked over to the boy and placed it on him, the bond began to form instantly. The burn of the spirit latching onto his soul sent shivers down his spine. The boy began to sweat but never once let out a cry.
"Will I be safe soon, sir?" The boy asked the soldier, his breath heavy, and then collapsed. The air grew cold and fell heavily around the dark room leaving everyone in a deep silence.
The men faced each other, guilt written permanently onto their faces. They released the shackles on the boy. He watched through squinted eyes as the men fled the cavern, leaving him for dead."Safe" never came.
