Krista was lying in bed; she knew that this wasn't going to be like an ordinary day. When she got that feeling it meant that something was going to happen today. She looked out the window to see the sun hadn't risen yet.
When Krista stretched, the covers moved away from her body. Once the stretching was done, she went to the bathroom to get ready for the day.
She thought about her day while eating her breakfast. The feeling was still there. Krista was starting to get worried now. The feeling never lasted this long before. That was when she looked over the clock that was hanging above the table. The clock read 8:30 am.
'That's weird.' Krista thought to herself. Two clocks telling two different times. That was interesting. She decided to use the phone in the living room to call the time and weather number. It always told the right time. Krista walked over and was about to pick up the phone, when a gloved hand was placed on top of hers. When she looked up what was in front of her surprised her.
There in front of her was herself, just dirty and hurt.
"I want you to listen to me very carefully." Future Krista whispered.
"I am listening."
"Your clocks are being affected by the asteroid that is headed this way. I wasn't able to stop it. I am going to tell you who you can trust and who you can't. I am not going to be able to stay long."
"Asteroid, I need to go. I have to get my family out of here." Krista's panicked voice said.
"Don't it's too late.
"You can't trust Brigadier General Craig; he is actually working with the enemy. Don't know all the details, but that is what it is. You can trust Lieutenant McCartney. You will get a call in about five minutes, saying that you need to go and meet a car out front."
"Why are you telling me these things?"
"Because if you have this information maybe you can change the outcome. The ship that will carry our future was blown up just after it launched. There was fuel on the launch pad and it ignited as soon as the ship took off. Right now you are our last hope." Future Krista said, as she faded away.
The phone rang and she jumped a couple of feet. Once she was settled and it was on its third ring she picked up.
"Hello."
"Miss Weaver, please go downstairs. There will be a car waiting for you. Follow these instructions," The gruff voice commanded. Before she could reply she heard the dial tone.
Krista knew that this was no time to procrastinate. Not grabbing anything, she was out the door. As soon as she stepped out there was the car that was told would be there.
The window to the car was rolled down. Then she saw a face appear. It was an elderly face.
"Miss Weaver, please come with us," The elderly man insisted.
"Can I please ask who you are?" Krista asked.
"I am Brigadier General Craig," Brigadier General Craig introduced. Krista trusted herself, well her future self. She was slightly uneasy about getting into the car with the General.
"Exactly what do you need me for?"
"I will tell you when we get to headquarters."
"Okay." Krista replied, as she got into the car. The drive there was silent. She saw two other military officers in the front seat who seemed somehow familiar, but she didn't know why. It was about a ten minute drive to the base. Once they parked the car they got out and went into the building which was the military headquarters.
