Thorin
As I raced down the passageway towards where Bilbo was, Silena's words echoed in my head. Did she really fear for me? Did she actually care? But my thoughts were interrupted by a blast of orange light and heat as I turned the corner. I put one hand in front of me and my other hand tightly grabbed my sword. I raced forward into the gold chamber, with Silena behind me. I looked down at it. It was filled with gold.
"Whoa," Silena whispered from behind me. I turned and looked at her. She blushed instantly and looked away.
"But I like silver better." She said. Suddenly I heard footsteps behind me. Silena and I turned around to see Bilbo running up the stairs towards us.
"Bilbo, you're alive!" Silena said happily.
"Not for much longer!" Bilbo shouted as we raced towards the exit.
"Did you find the arkenstone?" I asked.
"The dragon's coming!" Bilbo said.
"The Arkenstone?" I said again, steeping in front of him so that he couldn't get by. "Did you find it?" Bilbo looked at me.
"No, we should get out." He said quickly. He tried to walk past me, but I put my sword in front of him, making him back up slowly.
"Thorin..." Silena said warning as she slowly pulled out her sword.
"Thorin," Bilbo said. Suddenly, I heard something far off, yet close. I turned and looked to my side. About 50 yards away, was the dragon. Larger than I ever imagined. Silena, Bilbo, and I slowly backed away as the other dwarves raced to us from the secret passage.
"You will burn!" Smaug yelled as he came toward us. I saw the underside of him start to glow orange.
"Run!" I shouted. We all raced to the other side of the stairs and jumped off, landing in the gold. The fire roared over our hands as we slipped down the gold towards another opening. I grabbed Silena's hand and helped her up. Hand in hand, we raced towards the opening along with Bilbo and the other dwarves. I let go of Silena's hand and made sure everyone got through the opening. Smaug tilted his head up and shot out more fire. I rushed into the tunnel right before a wave of hot fire rushed over the entrance. I felt a sheering hot pain as I exited the tunnel. I yelled as I realized I was one fire. I dropped to the ground and pulled my coat off. I stood back up.
"Come one." I said to the company.
Silena
The halls were dark and grey. We went as fast, and quietly, as we could. We suddenly came to a halt.
"Shh," Thorin whispered.
"What is it?" I asked as quietly as possible. Thorin slowly turned and peaked around the corner. We slowly backed again towards us.
"We've given him the slip." Dori said quietly.
"No," Dwalin said. "He's still coming for us." I saw Bilbo looking around, uneasy and frightened.
"So where to now?" Bilbo asked.
"The Westward Guardroom." Thorin said. "There may be a way out."
"It's too high." Balin said. "It's no chance that way."
"It's our only chance." Thorin said.
"We have to try." I said. We all looked out ahead of us. It was a narrow stone bridge, high up from the floor. A drop from that could probably kill you. Thorin looked at me, as if to ask my permission. I nodded. He nodded back. We slowly crept onto the bridge. Before I knew it, we were halfway along.
"Come on." Thorin said. Suddenly I heard something fall. Something time and metal. I turned back around. A tiny coin had dropped next to Bilbo's feet. I saw him looking around concerned, moving his hands along his pockets. Then I heard it. The sound of wind. But not exactly wind. I looked above us. I saw the underside of Smaug. Small gold coins dropped down as he passed. It seemed as though everyone was holding their breath. But Smaug didn't notice us. Thorin motioned for us to continue following him. We slowly followed Thorin to the other side of the bridge.
