It was cloudy when Coconutkit stumbled up onto the high rock in the middle of the camp with his father. He was large for a kit. Could be the size of a new apprentice. But he wasn't of age. He was only 3 moons. He wasn't ready. His father called a clan meeting beside him. Watching the clan gather before them. It felt empowering. As if he wanted more. "I've called everyone here today for two things. One! We welcome a new apprentice. Coconutkit. Will now be known as coconutpaw. For the meantime at least." Murmurs came quietly amongst the clan. He couldn't hear them all but he over heard some disapproving of the news. And some wondering what his new name would be. They all looked disgusted. Not one happy face amongst the clan. Coconutpaw felt a slight anger strike in him when no one was happy for him. He was mad about everything. His mom, siblings, Sparrowwings, all of it. He felt he couldn't take any more.

As the wind blew through his fur as he stood by his father, he continued to speak. "Soulbreather will be his mentor. I won't have the privilege of doing so, and as deputy. I know I can trust him with this task."
Soulbreather, the lengthy grey cat that stood on the lower end of the rock nodded in acceptance. "And that isn't all. Sparrowwings, one of our best hunters, has passed. His blood lays on my claws. And may that be a reminder that you never, stand in my way. Nor my son's way. You'll end up just like him. Sad and pathetic.. and dead." Throatslasher's tail lashed in anger. But so did coconutpaw's. 'How could he kill him in cold blood and be so proud of it? Does he have no remorse?' Coconutpaw thought.

There was gasps and angry chattering amongst everyone. Everyone turned to look towards the nursery where Sparrowwings layed lifeless. He was loved by many. The elders came out of the den when the news of Sparrowwings came about. Amongst the elders was shadyclaws. Sparrowwings mother. Limping out of the den, as quick as she could but she couldn't out run a turtle even if she tried. The clan fell silent as they watched her. She was silent as she cried. Too old to have a reaction but coconutpaw could feel her pain. It all went blurry for him.

The sun had set and the only noise outside were crickets. Talonclaw, juniperpelt and rustynose had been digging a spot for Sparrowwings burial and sweetfur and shadyclaws layed their heads on him in silence, grieving and saying their final goodbyes. Coconutpaw wanted to join them but he was scared too. Sweetfur never even glanced at him. It was his first night in the apprentice den and he had to sleep apart from everyone. The other apprentices were worried if they got too close or said the wrong things, that he would kill them. His heart yearned for reassurance that he was good and not like his father. But no one provided it.

Coconutpaw made his way out of the apprentice den and he could hear the other apprentices releif. He silently walked towards sweetfur, chocking out words as he stopped a few paw steps away. "M-momma?" He murmured. Sweetfur lifted her head to look up at him. Her eyes were swollen with tears. It pained her to see him. Shaking her head broke her and him. "Please momma.." he whispered, holding back his tears. She continued to slowly shake her head, she wouldnt dare abandon her kits or ignore them in any form. But she couldn't find the words or strength to forgive Coconutpaw. It wasn't his fault and she knew that. And he understood the reason she was doing this was because Sparrowwings wouldn't be here if he had just went with his father.

"Please. I can't lose you too momm-" he was cut off as he tried to step closer to her. "Go. Coconutpaw." She spoke up. It was almost croaked out. He swallowed his tears back, trying not to have the haunting thoughts of his real family leaving. He already had nightmares of it, he didn't want thoughts too. "Please let me make this right" he spoke softly. "You're smart for a kit Coconutpaw. You're strong... I wish you the best in finding peace with yourself. But do not come near my kits again little one." She said. Putting her head back on her dead mates shoulder. He heard the pain in her voice. This was what was for best. He didn't want to hurt her or his siblings anymore. He backed up, glancing towards the open forest he had never explored before. He needed to get away for a bit.

"I'm sorry" he whispered to her one last time, before turning and walking towards the forest. His tears fell, gliding on the scar on his eye and falling off his cheek. He pushed his way through the brambles of the bushes. His heart pounding in rage and sadness. He felt weak. He continued to walk through the dark forest, unable to see much in the dark. He began to run. He ran as fast as he possibly could. It was all he could do. He haulted to a stop right before he reached the river. Nearly falling in. He huffed air, catching his breath. His tears had dried completely. He stepped closer to the river and leaned over to look at himself in the moon lit reflection. "Your such a fool.." he whispered to himself. His red eyes shimmered in the reflection. He put his ears down, thinking to himself how he could screw so much up so fast.

Suddenly, a rattling noise came from the bushes behind him. A figure moved silently and stealthy through the bushes. His ears perked and he unleashed his claws, staring at the moving bushes. He figured it was a bunny. Much less, a mouse. But there never big enough to move bushes like that. "Who's there?" He called out into the night. The bushes stopped moving and it got silent. A deathly silent. Not even the crickets made noise. "Hello?" He stepped forward cautiously, smelling the air. He closed his eyes for a second and with that, he was tackled to the ground.
