~ chapter one ~

"hey flashlight," cooper teased as luna walked down the stairs and entered the kitchen.

"nice one," clint high fived his eldest son while passing through the doorway.

"honey, have you seen this?" laura softly asked after hearing two pairs of footsteps running and the front door closing shut.

"oh my god," he mumbled, reading over the newspaper she had thrown on the table.

"is that wanda?" luna raised an eyebrow, shifting closer to get a better look at it.

"there was an incident in lagos. i hope everything turns out alright for them, especially wanda. she's already gone through a lot, and she's still young," laura rubbed her temple.

"the sokovia accords?"

"i don't even want to know what it is," clint groaned, dropping the newspaper and taking a sip from his coffee.

the trio remained silent until a ding was heard from luna's phone.

"any way i could go to london with sam and steve?"

𓄿

peggy carter had died in her sleep.

steve knew he couldn't be alone, so he invited the teenager he hadn't seen in months and sam to tag along, knowing they would be the perfect pair to have by his side.

"and now, i would like to invite sharon carter to come up and say a few words."

a blonde woman walked up to the podium, and sam slightly nudged steve. the super soldier looked at him confused then glanced up, making eye contact with sharon, who let out a shaky breath.

"margaret carter was known to most as a founder of s.h.i.e.l.d., but i just knew her as aunt peggy. she had a photograph in her office. aunt peggy standing next to jfk. as a kid, that was pretty cool, but it was a lot to live up to. which is why i never told anyone we were related," she seemed to direct that at steve, only confusing luna more. "i asked her once how she managed to master diplomacy and espionage in a time when no one wanted to see a woman succeed at either. she said, compromise where you can, but where you can't, don't. even if everyone is telling you that something wrong is something right. even if the whole world is telling you to move, it is your duty to plant yourself like a tree, look gem in the eye and say, 'no, you move.'"
