I played the final note and the auditorium filled with applause. I bowed, holding my violin and beaming, then exited the stage. Everybody backstage congratulated me. I knew each and every one of them and at least three facts about them. There was Sally, who's been playing the violin for four years, the same amount of time as me. She is obsessed with BTS and loves playing Minecraft. William, who can play the piano blindfolded. He loves skating, we've done it together many times. He has three siblings and used to do kickboxing. So on.
After the entire concert was over, I picked up my violin and walked through the door and into the corridor which had the elevator, lockers and staircase. I scanned the area before spotting my friends. I made my way over to them, grinning and getting hugs and high fives from all five of them. We were all chatting for a bit before Alex randomly blurted out "I want to drink alcohol."
"We're eleven, you ding dong!" Laura laughed.
"I know, but I gotta agree with Alex. Alcohol sounds good," Mark said, dreamily. Finley chuckled.
"Ah crap tarts!" Shelby swore, looking at her phone.
"You alright?" I asked.
"I just ran into a train in Subway Surfers," She pouted. We all laughed.
"It's serious! I was so close to getting my new high score," She huffed. That just made us laugh more.I spotted my parents waving me over, so I said my goodbyes, got more hugs, and walked over. Cue more hugs from my parents, and a massive squeeze rom my six, turning seven-year-old sister.
"You did great sweetheart," My mum beamed on the way to the car.
"Yes, darling. We're so proud of you," My dad said, kissing me on the cheek.
I laughed. "Mum, dad! Do you have to do this after every performance?"
"Yes!" They both chorused.I got into the car and my sister plopped down next to me. After reaching home and putting her to bed, I pulled out my half painted canvas and paints and continued painting what I'd started yesterday. My parents entered the room, sympathetic looks on their faces.
"Hi ma! 'Sup pa!" I smiled. They both gave me a brief smile, their expressions turning serious quickly.
"Look sweetie we-" My dad started.
"We're moving. Countries," My mum finished. I dropped my paintbrush as well as my jaw.
"We're what?" I asked.
"We're moving," My mum repeated.I simply broke down then and there, sobbing my heart out. "But my friends! My school! My sports, my music, my theatre!" I managed to sob out.
"I know-" my dad said.
"No you don't! You don't know anything! You don't know how I feel! Just leave me alone!" I yelled. They both immediately got up and left, not wanting to deal with me. I continued bawling my eyes out, and ended up crying myself to sleep.
That was the day I found out.
