My life isn't exactly normal. My mom is the leader of Celestia. Even so, we find time for family. This long weekend we're going on a camping trip to Borealia. There is a mansion in every state of Celestia for the leaders of Celestia family to stay and host events. When we get there, Mom tells us "There is a summit in a few weeks at the start of spring break. You and Ocean are fifteen, I think you're old enough to handle it. Do you want to come?"
"We'll think about it." I pull Ocean aside to a balcony and say "Alright. Let's decide if we're going to the summit, the way we decide everything. Pros and cons list."
"Well, let's start with the cons. We don't like political games. The pros are that this is an opportunity to create positive changes in the world."
"You're right. We should go to the summit."
That night at dinner Ocean and I inform our parents that we will be attending the summit. Our twelve-year old brother, Michael says "That's a great idea." Our ten-year-old sister, Lana agrees. Mom and Dad say it's a wise decision. After dinner, we watch a movie together.
The next day, we all take a day trip to the Borealia Preserve. Half of Celestia is nature preserves without roads or frequent human activity and there is shelter for injured animals and animals that could not survive in the wild just outside each preserve. Nature is a very important part of life in Celestia(ecotourism is very prominent here). The family the day observing all the beautiful animals. Moose, Arctic foxes, Arctic wolves, Arctic hares. We even head to the ocean and go whale watching. We see seals, humpbacks, orcas, belugas, and sperm whales.
On Tuesday ,my friend Crystal submits a speech for him to read at the summit. A hundred students from each grade of Celesta's high schools (there is enough room) are selected to attend the summit and ten out of all the speeches submitted are performed (in addition to speeches from diplomats). I am confident that Crystal will at least be able to go. He's made a lot of progress in his experiments. He's trying to learn about what makes plants able to photosynthesize. Ocean is actually planning to work with him to research how biofuels are more efficient than fossil fuels. Celestia runs completely on environmentally safe energy. If we can prove that this method produces more energy than others, maybe Decica and Warrarcia will stop relying on fossil fuels. If that happens, the world will be a lot cleaner and generations to come will be able to enjoy it. I've read Crystal's speech. It's about preserving the environment and urges the use of environmentally responsible energy. Yes, it's a long shot that this one speech will change the hearts and minds of the Warrarcian and Decican dignitaries, but it's a great speech and all anyone can do to change the world is to try.
