Not as Different

Chapter 4 recovery

Betty and Jug woke around the same time early in the morning to the loud knocking on the door. "I'll get it stay in bed" Jug said walking to the door. He open it up and Cheryl and Toni walked through. "Hello hobo I'm here for Betty" Cheryl said. "Hey Jug" Toni said handing him Pop's take out. "I'm in here Cheryl" Betty shouted from the bed. "Coming cousin" Cheryl said walking over to Betty.
     "How are you feeling" Cheryl said sitting next to Betty. "I'm fine Cheryl just craving some of Pop's delicious milkshakes" Betty said laughing and sitting up. "I actually have some right her that they brought" Jug said stepping inside the room, Toni following behind. "Oh give me give me" Betty said reaching for the bag. Jug handed her the bag and sat on the bed with everyone else.
    Everyone ate, talked, and laughed at the stupidest stuff. The day went one and for once they weren't worried about  anything. A week went by and Jug was skipping school on Mondays and Wednesdays to care for Betty. Cheryl and Toni would miss Tuesday and Thursday even though the doctor told her she should start doing stuff by herself. The 2nd week after the school shooting she went back to school. Everyone was staring and saying sorry for what happened. None of that bothered her. She just didn't like her bully Reggie being nice to her. It felt fake and everyone was whispering.
     "Hey are they looking at you weird or is it just me" Betty said running up to Veronica. Veronica looked around before saying "oh no girl there staring at you". "Betty Cooper to office" the intercoms protected into the hallway. "That's me see ya later V" Betty said turning to the office. "Bye B" Veronica said walking to the student lounge.
     "Your medicine Betty" the little old lady said handing her a little white bottle. "You only need to take it one more time" the old lady said watching Betty swallow them. "Thanks" Betty said walking out of the office.
      "Betty go to Pop's later Jug has a surprise for you" Cheryl said. "Okay" Betty said giggling. After school Betty got a call. "Hello I'm on my way now" Betty said putting on her shoes. "Don't come yet I need you to put on that favorite dress that you have then you can come" Jug said over the phone. "Ok bye" Betty said hanging up. Betty threw off her shoes and run up to her room. She put on a dress that went just past her knees. The top half of her dress was black and the bottom was pink. Betty slipped on some pink flats and opened her front door. "And where do you think you are going young lady" a voice said from the kitchen. "Mom? What are you doing here?" Betty asked. "Well it's my house too you know" Alice said walking to the couch. "I'm just going to Pop's" Betty said stepping outside. "We'll have fun" Alice said.
     Betty got to Pop's and walked inside. The ring from the door made Jug turn around. He stumbled to his feet and stood there speechless. Butterfly's flew around franticly in his stomach. "What do you not like it?" Betty asked spinning around in her dress. "No you look perfect" Jug said walking her to a seat. The booth was beautiful. It had candles and flowers. "Wow Jug did you do this for me?" Betty asked as Jug pulled out her chair. Betty sat in the seat and looked around. "Yeah Cheryl and Toni helped" Jug said blushing a little.
      They ate and drank milkshakes. "So I have been meaning to ask you this for a while and you don't have to answer right away but..." Jug said staring into her eyes. "What Jug" Betty said staring at  him back. "Will you be my girlfriend?" Jug asked. "OMG OMG YES" Betty screamed standing up to hug him. Jugs stood up and hugged her for what feels like moments no hours of peace. For once they both felt truly loved.
        Cheryl and Toni ran around a corner screaming, cheering, and laughter. "Yes I knew it was going to happen" Toni screamed and clapped. "What are you guys doing here" Betty laughed. "I told you they helped" Jug said wrapping his arms around her. "We are leaving now" Cheryl said grabbing Toni's hand and starting to walk out. "Veronica owes me twenty bucks"Toni shouted before running out of Pop's. "She really placed a bet on us" Betty laughed. Jug laughed and gave Pop the money. Betty wrapped her arms around Jug and walked out of Pop's back to his trailer. "So what do you wanna do?" Betty asked. "Watch a movie" Jug said. "Sounds like a plan" Betty said snuggling up to Jug.
    They both ended up falling asleep laying in the couch watching Ted 2. Years went by and they found who shoot Betty. Lets just say he is in a good place now. Jug and Betty are both happy in a healthy relationship.
