chapter nineteen - duet
Erin's POV
"Sorry I'm late, guys," Mr. Schue exhales, walking into the choir room and taking a seat on the stool in the front of the room. "I was with Principal Figgins... Bad news, guys. Puckerman's in juvie."
"What?" I mutter, feeling a wave of shock flood throughout my body.
"Come on, Erin," Tina laughs. "It was really just a matter of time."
"What did he do?" Finn frowns.
"He drove his mom's Volvo through the front of a convenience store and drove off with the ATM," Mr. Schue explains. I furrow my eyebrows in confusion, as a few other members of the Glee Club failed to muffle down laughter.
"When is he getting out?" Rachel asks.
"Unknown," Mr. Schue frowns.
"He might be the dumbest person on the planet, and that's coming from me," Brittany giggles.
"Guys, have some sympathy," Mr. Schue scolds them.
"For a guy who puts himself before everyone else?" Finn scoffs, as Rachel looks over at him. "We need his voice, and his stupid bad-boy stage presence."
"What we need is to keep our focus," Mr. Schue walks over to the white board and begins writing out the word 'duet'. "Your lesson for the week-- I want you to pair up and sing a duet... and since you guys love our diva-offs so much, I'm making this a competition. The winners will get dinner for two, on me, at Breadstix."
I spent the rest of Glee Club thinking about Noah...
Why would he crash his mom's car into a convenient store? Is it because another guy sang a fucking love song to me? If he went to juvie just because he was jealous, I'm going to be pissed. I know he thinks he's tough enough to be 'top dog' or whatever, but it's not McKinley High-- it's juvie. He's way too pretty for juvie. What if some guy makes Noah his bitch? Do they still have 'prison bitches' in juvie? Am I allowed to visit him? Jesus, Erin, you shouldn't visit him-- he'll be fine... Wait, is juvie food even Kosher?
Before I know it, the bell rings. I sigh and grab my bag before making my way to my locker.
"Hey," I hear someone say, as I grab my Calculus textbook from my locker. I close the metal door and see none other than Sam Evans standing there.
"Hey," I sigh, beginning to walk away from him to my class.
"Are you mad at me?" He furrows his eyebrows in confusion, hurrying to catch up with me.
I quickly pause and turn to him. I hadn't even realized I was being a dick to him.
"No, sorry," I let out a small laugh at how distracted I was. "I'm just a little overwhelmed."
"I'm sure you're really worried about him," he gives me a sympathetic smile.
"Who?" I let out a small laugh, wondering how he managed to see right through me.
"Puck," he shrugs.
"We've been friends since we were really young," I nod. "I just don't want anything bad to happen to him," I explain. He gives me a small nod, obviously not buying my slightly stretched version of the truth.
"If it makes you feel any better, one of my cousins knew someone who went to juvie once. He said it was just like a really boring summer camp," he laughs, making me crack a small smile. "I was wondering if maybe you wanted to do a duet with me," he gives me a hopeful smile. "Maybe I can help take your mind off of things for a little bit."
