Leaf Wars(Slow updates)

Chapter 2: Hats?

I'm very slow at updating.

Rummaging through my bag I started explaining to my team mates.

"So you guys know how my family are Wiccans and my mom practices witchcraft? Well, she gave me special items that will help us a great deal this year, and might even help us win" I tell them as I pull out the object. Holding it up for them to see I waited for their reaction.

Their eyes stared intently at the fluffy mound in my hands as they tried to decipher what it was. Soccer was the first to speak. Her slightly deep voice was pitched higher from confusion.

"A hat?" The others squinted their eyes as they started to recognize the item as a hat as well.

"How is a hat shaped like a wolf going to help us win?" Taytay asked. Her gruff voice skeptical and challenging. I frowned at her and glared.

"Don't underestimate things on first glance. This isn't just any hat you dimwits. This is a very special hat. Just watch and be amazed." I grinned at their mixed expressions as I slid the hat on my head. It was shaped as a wolf with crimson red faux fur lining the top. The underneath lined with grey felt. Hanging from the sides were two paws. Keeping eye contact with my teammates I slipped the paws on. Electricity started to spread throughout my body. Lighting up my muscles with energy. My body morphed into a shape of a wolf.

I heard a gasp as I looked up at my team mates. Taytay had her hands covering her mouth as her eyes widened in bewilderment. Soccer looked at me in awe as did Marie.

I have them a wolfish grin as I willed my body to morph back into normal. I slipped my hands out of the paws as the buzzing in my body stopped.

"So. You guys excited or what?" I gave a goofy grin as my teams gawked at me in silence.

"Hello? Earth to the Werewolves? Geez I didn't know it was gonna blow your guys minds that much." I kept my grin as I teased the shocked team. The two young boys, Philip and Connor were the first to speak.

"That was...-"

"Amazing!" Philip finished for Connor. Both boys started cheering and laughing as they spewed out questions I couldn't follow.

"Shut up you two!" Taytay finally spat out. Her eyes glared at the two boys. Folding her arms in irritation.

"Poky, how? What? How?!" Soccer flailed her arms around in a confused and bewildered spasm as her mouth tried to form a coherent sentence.

"Like I said. My family, on my mom's side, comes from a long line of Wiccan witches. We visited my grandma and aunt in Poland over the summer and I told them about the wars. My grandma decided to help out by giving me these cool hats. They were enchanted by a powerful witch back in the late 1700's and passed down my family for generations. Pretty cool huh? I got one for all of you. They were going to just be for the top ranking memebers but I guess since there's so little of us this year each member gets one." I finshed my explanation by kneeling down on the cold dirt. I unzipped the bag up all the way to reveal it stuffed with more wolf hats.

"Ohh, can we choose which one we want?!" Philip piped up. He took a step towards the bag, eager to pick out a hat. His sister, Soccer, blocked him with an outstretched arm.

"Settle down pussy bitch! The only one who'll decide which one you get is Poky." Philip frowned at his sister but grumpily took a step back. The others looked at me eagerly as I picked out the first hat. It was a shiny, sleek ink black hat with no marks or blemishes. I stood up, presenting it to Taytay. Her hands were steady as she took it out of my grasp, yet her eyes were shining with excitement. 

"Taytay, for this year's annual Leaf Wars your Werewolf name shall be Shadow-fang! If ever my presence is gone or I am unable to lead you will take place as secondary leader. Use this hat wisely, let it help you in times of trouble and bring us closer to victory!" When my words were done the team cheered as Shadow-fang placed the hat over her dark hair. Giving me a curt nod, I kneel down again and pick out a snow white hat. It was also unmarked by any other colour other then white. Standing up I present it to Soccer. She beams out a wide smile as she practically snatches it out of my hands. She hugs it to her chest as I start my speech.

"Soccer, for this year's annual Leaf Wars your Werewolf name shall be Frozen-fang! If ever myself or Shadow-fang are both unable to lead you shall be the third leader. Use this hat to give you strength in upcoming battles and bring us closer to victory!" Once again everyone cheered as Frozen-fang slides the hat over her brown hair. She wrapped her arms around me in a vice-grip hug, squealing. Chuckling I push her off as I kneel to get the next hat. This one is a smoke grey. Standing up I give it to Yazmyn.

"Yazmyn, for this year's annual Leaf Wars your Werewolf name shall be Storm-fang! You will use your quick reflexes and observant eyes to scout out the forest for the enemy. You will be in charge of making sure our team knows where the best place to gather leaves are. Use this hat to help you bring us closer to victory!" Storm-fang put on the hat as everyone cheered. I picked out the next hat. A pale silver with russet around the ears and muzzle. I handed it to Marie.

"Marie, for this year's annual Leaf Wars your Werewolf name shall be Quick-fang! Your speed will aid us this year for raids on enemies. Use this hat to aid you by increasing your speed in raids and bringing us closer to victory!" Everyone cheered again as Quick-fang slipped the hat on. The next hat was a charcoal black with mud brown specks across the forehead and down the back of the neck.

"Philip, for this year's annual Leaf Wars your Werewolf name shall be Spy-fang! You will use your dark fur to hide in the shadows and observe our enemies' every move. Use this hat and your watchful eye will help bring us closer to victory!" Connor cheered for his friend as Philip put his hat on proudly. I picked up the last hat. It was a dark chocolate brown.

"Connor, for this year's annual Leaf Wars your Werewolf name shall be Silent-fang! You will use your small form and silent footsteps to slip close to the enemy and listen to their plans. Use this hat and your intel to bring us closer to victory!" As everyone check out their new hats cheering and clapping I slipped on my backpack and grinned. We may have had a small group this year but the Vamps must have had some loss's as well this year, and we also had our secret weapons. Smirking I raised my hand into the air, catching the attention of my team mates.

"Wolves! Our team have won four games in the past four years, our numbers may be small this year but our strength and courage out number those bloodsuckers any day! I know that this year we will be once again victorious! Now, let me hear you howl!" Bringing my hand forward the others laid their hands on top of mine and with a harmonious howl our hands flew up into the air.

Let the games begin.
