"Hey, Jagger!" I yelled to my cousin.
He walked over to me and hugged me.
"How's it going?" Jagger asked.
"Eh... Could be better," I replied.
We were at our home, Camp Half-Blood. We loved it. It was a great place for young people who found out one of their parents was a Greek god or goddess. There was training and some fun times.
"What's wrong? Another dating disaster?" my cousin asked.
I nodded. I couldn't seem to keep a good relationship. If I wasn't cousins with Jagger and he wasn't already dating, I totally would date him. He was strong. He had well defined muscles on his arms and great sword wielding abilities. His scar across his eye was so cute! Ew, why must my cousin be so attractive?! I thought.
"Yeah, this has been my... What? Fifth boyfriend? I think I'm done with boys," I told him.
"You can't let a couple new relationships get you down!" Jagger tried to cheer me up, "Maybe if you just slow down and stop trying to have a boyfriend right away maybe-"
"No!" I cut him off. "I'm done with boys. Forever. I'm joining the hunters of Artemis."
Jagger looked shocked. Then a girl ran up to us.
"Hey, Music Man!" She said and kissed my cousin's cheek. "Oh sorry," she said turning to me, "I didn't see you there."
She saw me. She knows she did. This girl and her wanna be self needs to go. Why did she kiss Jagger? I wondered.
"Hey," Jagger replied. "Cuz, this is my girlfriend."
"Hi! I'm Brittany, daughter of Aphrodite," the girl said.
That's why her attitude was so... Well the way it was.
"Luka, daughter of Hecate, Jagger's my cousin," I replied. We shook hands. We officially met.
"Well I gotta go..." Jagger said slowly. He looked over to Percy. Percy was great. He was handsome and everything. But once again, he was dating. Jagger jogged off.
"So... You dating?" Brittany asked.
Well straight forward are we?
"No," I answered simply.
"Do you want to?"
"Yeah," I said.
"Then why aren't you?"
"It never works out," I responded.
I explained that all my boyfriends just weren't right. We ended up dating for two days and then I got dumped. Brittany nodded and listened to my whole story. It turns out she isn't a snobby little Aphrodite brat.
"So that's why I think I'm going to join the hunters of Artemis," I summed up.
"Well I'm not going to try and stop you if that's what your decision is, but I will say that you're making a mistake. You shouldn't give up just because of some mishaps." Brittany countered.
"Are you going to get me a boyfriend?" I asked.
"Yeah! I'm Aphrodite's daughter after all!" My new friend said.
We got all the basics down.
"Does it matter what godly parent?" She asked.
"I'd like their godly parent to be an olympian," I told her.
"How about a certain Hades kid named Nico?" She asked.
I knew I was dark and stuff but not like that!
"N-Nico?" I stammered.
"Did I stammer?" Brit asked.
"No, but I did!" I yelled.
"Just try!" She argued.
"No!" I yelled. I stormed off. I quit.
I walked to the lake and made an iris message.
"Artemis?" I asked.
"Hello child," said a voice.
"I think I'm going to join the hunters..." I bit my lip. I wasn't so sure anymore.
"Well then I hope you decide to!" She said enthusiastically.
"Um are there any... Catches? Like things I have to agree to?" I questioned.
"Well you have to give up boys. No dating them, no kissing them, no marrying them, no having kids," Artemis replied.
I was speechless. I knew it before, but I was just shocked.
"What happens if I quit the hunters?" I managed.
"You probably... Die," the goddess answered glumly.
I gulped. What to do? If I joined but didn't want to be a part of it anymore I'd get killed! If I didn't join I might be miserable!
"Artemis... Is there another way?" I asked.
"Hm... You're saying you want to be a hunter, but you want to date?" She asked.
"Yes," I said.
"Well... I don't think there is another way...," Artemis replied.
Now I was beginning to changing my mind.
