Chapter 1

Everyday for the past three years I was beaten and starved. I was an alphas daughter. The last survivor of the Blue Shadow Pack.

Unlike in the fairytales, I didn't escape and was taken prisoner at 17. I had been my packs most trained and lethal fighter, not to brag. I had straight black hair and brown eyes.

When I was little a boy told me I had cow eyes, he meant it as a compliment but it's strange how the silliest things can hurt you. Since then, I've hated my eyes.

But that's not important. My name is Haylee Johnson and I've been a captive for three years. I didn't dream of a Prince Charming to come to my rescue, I'm a big girl, I can take care of myself.

I don't know what time it is. The beta of the pack that has me prisoner had just finished beating and taunting me when a loud commotion sounded from above the cellar.

I remained silent when he cursed and dug the silver knife into my side.

"I'll be back bitch." He spat in my face.

He left the knife in my side and stormed out the door. I closed my eyes and reached for the knife. My arms and legs were restrained with silver chains, I couldn't reach.

More noises came from above. I heard shattering, yelps and shouts. What was happening? My wolf urged me to find out. I didn't disagree. Whatever it was had their full attention and I might finally be able to escape.

I shifted into my black wolf for the first time since I had been taken, they never left me alone long enough to do so but I needed this opportunity. I couldn't take anymore. After five minutes, I had figured out how to stand and lunged forward. The chains didn't budge.

I tried again. And again. Nothing. I leapt forward ignoring the knife and silver. The chains broke from the wall but were still attached to me. Oh well, it would have to do.

I sprinted up the stairs and hurled my body at the door, breaking it down. I was met with fighting wolves everywhere.

This was a different pack. This pack was trying to take out my kidnappers pack! I looked around quickly, craving the taste of blood. Spotting a small wolf fighting the beta I ran forwards, tackling the beta down.

I had never bothered to learn my captors names. It didn't matter to me. I snapped the betas neck and trotted out of the house, leaving the small wolf.

I had a mental list of who to kill. The beta, check. The alpha next. I pinned my ears and whimpered slightly as I realized the knife was still in my side. I turned my head to try and pull it out but I couldn't reach. The chains were slowing me down enough, this knife might kill me.

Deciding to deal with it later I searched for the alpha. Two thunderous growls came from the back of the house. I knew I had found him. I began walking towards the back. Finding this whole situation funny, I let out a laugh that sounded deranged in wolf form.

Finally spotting the alpha fighting the alpha of the invading pack I decided to interfere. I loped up to the fight and jumped on the alpha who had taken me, tearing him away from the other wolf. A large circle began to form around the two alphas and myself.

The invading pack must have finished off the pack that had taken me. The alpha I had jumped on bucked me off of his back and stood in a defensive stance, clearly aware he was surrounded.

When he saw who I was he straightened himself and took in my appearance. Even though I had been locked up, I hadn't lost my touch when it came to fighting. I could take him. He was underestimating me.
