Freak Out

I was eventually able to pull myself together, three phone calls later. I realized that Connor was supposed to be staying with me this week and there was no way he and Sadie would be able to be here with me since I'm at this hospital all day and night, so I called him first.

"Cal? What's wrong? It's really early."

"I'm sorry." I muttered. My voice had gone to hell because of my throat closing up and it was mysteriously dry now.

"Oh, shit. What happened? What's wrong? It better not be one of those guys."

"It is." I rasped.

"Shit. What the hell did they do to you?"

"Nothing, not directly." I let a small sob escape.

Connor realized that it wasn't what he had thought and his voice softened. "What happened? Is everything okay?"

"Nothing's okay anymore! I don't know if they're going to be okay, Connor!"

"Calliegh. Chill the hell out and tell me what happened."

"The guys were in a bus accident. They were shot and then their bus flipped a couple nights ago! They're unconscious. Only Sean and Phil are awake right now."

Dead silence from Connor's end of the line. There was no sound of any kind. Nothing. I'm pretty sure the call was dropped.

"Connor?"

"I'm sorry, kiddo." He finally said.

"It's hard. I don't know if they're going to be okay. Cubbie was shot in his left shoulder and it was really close to his heart."

"Oh, my god, Cal! I'm so sorry!"

"Don't be sorry for me."

"Why not? You're the one who's going through crap. I can feel sorry for more than one person, you know."

"Sorry."

"Sadie and I will hold off on coming to visit. You're probably tied up at the hospital with these guys."

"Thanks, bro."

"Anytime, Cal. I'm praying for them. I know how much they mean to you."

"You have no idea." I muttered and let my head fall against the wall behind me.

"Well, I'm going to have to go, I'm so sorry." Connor apologized.

"No, it's okay. I get it. I'm sorry I called you so early."

"It's fine!"

"Bye, I love you."

"Love you too, sis." I could hear the smile in his voice as he hung up.

I sat there with my phone still held to my face and smiling down at the bottom of the next stall over. Finally I straightened up and sighed heavily. Lyam. I was supposed to be back several days ago and he must be worried sick about me. He, of course, picked up on the first ring.

"Cal, is everything okay?" Lyam asked immediately. That's what I love about him, he really gets me and knows what's wrong at all times.

"No, it's not okay."

"Tell me what happened. Please."

"The guys... They were in an accident."

"What? Oh, my god, are you okay?"

"Yeah, Ponsi had kicked me out of the bus so I wasn't in it when it flipped."

"Are they okay?"

"No, they were shot at and they aren't awake." The more I told people about it, the more I felt like something was slowly sucking out my emotions and replacing them with denial. It just doesn't seem real.
