-:Chapter 8:-
To my surprise, Jaspar was sitting on my doorstep when I got home. The wind had ruffled up his hair so it was more dishevelled than usual, which was really saying something.
When he saw me, the corners of his mouth turned up in a smile. "About time you got home. Do you have any idea how long I've been waiting?"
I rolled my eyes. "What are you doing here, Jas?" I looked around for a sign of Sophia's Challenger, but it was nowhere in sight. "Where's Soph?"
He shrugged and got up from sitting on the concrete steps. "Something about Tommy throwing a party."
I sighed exasperatedly. "God dammit, Tommy." Taking out my keys from my bag, I unlocked the door and Jaspar followed me inside.
"So," he hopped on the couch, making himself right at home. "Are you going to tell me about your date or what? Was Seth all gentleman-like? Oh my God, I bet his eyes sparkled!" he gushed, laughing as I narrowed my eyes at him.
"Jaspar, why on Earth would I tell you about my date with Seth? You of all people?" I crossed my arms.
He gave me a knowing smirk as he got up and walked past me to the kitchen. "Because I know you're dying to."
I hated that he was absolutely right.
Stepping into the kitchen, I saw Jaspar looking in the fridge. Typical.
I set my bag on the floor with a sigh. "If you must know-"
He held up a hand to stop me, after closing the fridge, empty-handed. "Wait, before you start, I think this would be much better over a cup of tea, no?"
"Of course it would. I'm sure that this has nothing to do with the fact that you're far too lazy to make your own cup."
"Hey! It's your house!"
"Alright, alright. Just sit in my room while I make it. I can't have you breathing down my neck, it's unnerving." I started putting water into the kettle and set it on the oven.
"Now, Crystal, I'm sure your father wouldn't appreciate finding a boy in his precious daughter's room." he wagged his finger at me.
"Don't make me pour boiling water on you." I threatened.
He rose his hands up in defense, walking backwards towards the hall. "No need to get violent, I'm leaving."
It was quiet when he left, which was exactly what I needed to get my thoughts in order. The events of today replayed in my mind over and over again until I was all giddy and let out a small squeal.
God, I was pathetic.
Recomposing myself, I quickly made the tea with precision, then rushed to my room to find Jas looking at the pictures I had on my wall.
"Is this your sister?" It was creepy how, without even looking, he knew I was in the room.
I set the two cups on my desk. "Yeah, that's Katherine."
"She's hot."
"You're an idiot."
He finally looked at me, then looked back at the picture, his index finger tapping his chin in deep thought. "No, seriously. Introduce me to her so that I may woo her with my charming personality."
I barked in laughter, then tried covering it up with a cough and sip of tea. "Not to doubt your 'wooing powers', but I think my sister is a little out of your league."
"How so?" He looked away from the picture for more than five seconds and spotted the second cup on the desk. He picked it up with a nod of thanks and took a sip.
