Murderers are not monsters, they are men, and that is the most frightening thing about them, raced through my mind all throughout dinner. It's all I could think about after hearing the 6-o'clock news which we watch every night during dinner. The news stated that there were two serial killers on the loose, Dale and Earl, at least a half-hour from my house. Tonight's delicious feast contained fried pork chops, mashed potatoes, gravy, and alfredo shrimp. For dessert, there were homemade mini chocolate lava cakes along with french vanilla ice cream.
Since today was Saturday, I stayed in my pajamas all day and did nothing. My sister, Annistyn, and I decided to go for a walk to get some exercise and fresh air. I changed into light grey sweatpants, my red cropped Hollister sweatshirt, white Adidas, and a black scrunchie on my wrist. Annistyn changed into black leggings, a forest green sweatshirt, black Adidas, and a simple black hair tie on her wrist. I grab my phone, a red iPhone 12 with a clear case; along with my sister's iPhone X with a black case and we are on our way out the door.
We have a designated route that our parents have said is safe to walk on by ourselves. The route is a mile and a half long. We try to walk this path at least three times a week or more. The path includes going down a road that has houses and woods on the opposite side. We usually stop and take pictures of the woods because they are so beautiful and peaceful. Sometimes we go off our route and go for a little walk through the woods. Walks through the woods help me relax and release tension. They are just so calming. We heard some rustling in the bushes but thought nothing because animals hide in the bushes next to the road all the time. The sky fills with darkness as my head collides with the road leaving a throbbing pain. A stinging pain rushes up my neck, through my head, and covers my body; leaving my body fully unable to take any commands. My head is filled with silence only hearing thoughts rushing everywhere trying to figure out what just happened.
Only god knows how long it had been since whatever just happened. Annistyn and I are sitting in a room with only one chair, which I am sitting in, one bed, which Annistyn is laying in, a single bucket, and one roll of toilet paper. Abruptly the door opens quietly as if trying not to wake us. I fake being asleep and so does Annistyn. I open my eye just a sliver. A guy comes in. He looks familiar but I'm just not quite sure where I have seen him before. He comes walking towards me and I shut my eyes out of instinct. Coldness brushes again my neck. A second time. A third time, and it holds. Shocks scatter through my body, crashing against the hard, wooden, splitter giving floor, leaving me limp. I open my eyes the second my body can take orders. Annistyn just sits there, untouched, unnoticed, un... anything. His attention is only on me not even caring that there is a third living thing in this room with us. It's like she's not even here, except I can hear the sound of her racing, but beating heart. The sound of her shallow breathing, so soft I can barely hear it like she's trying to stay unnoticed. Which isn't a bad thing right now. He notices my eyes darting around the room.
"Hey! Look, you better stay right here! Don't move an inch! Don't do anything! Until I get back and tell you what to do! You hear me!" He screams at me as if I'm deaf. He leans in closer to my ear, "I said. Do. You. Hear. Me!"
"Yes, sir," I whisper.
"Good. Now I won't be gone long but I sure wouldn't test my luck if I were you." I nod my head slightly trying not to get on the wrong side of him. Which I seemed to be teeter-tottering on a half-inch fence right now and I almost fell over onto the side filled with spikes and death notes.
I can finally let go of the air trapped in my lungs when I heard to door slam shut. The air in my lungs wasn't the only thing trapped. I am. We are. We are trapped in an old cabin in the middle of who knows where. Trapped in a room with not even enough tools to survive. No water and no food. The two most important things needed to survive. So unless we somehow escaped we were laying on our death bed right now. As I'm overthinking and snap back into life, I notice that Annistyn has disappeared. I should've known exactly where to find her. The kitchen. She's always been a food lover and I don't think that'll change any time soon.
