When you're in Love [Bethany]

"Step, step, knees, arms" Mark says to me. We are going over a part in our hip hop routine before we go on. As much as I love working with Mark, I can't wait to dance with Derek again. It's been a week since he asked me to be his girlfriend. Thinking of that moment gives me chills, but in a good way. The way he pulled me in closer and held my hand and just blurted it out...  it is always replaying in my head and never fails to make me smile. Ever since that day, it seems that all my problems have just faded away. Derek brings out the best in me, and it kills me to not be able to dance with him. Mark had been really amazing too, but has been acting quite strange. He always is curious about what's happening between Derek and I and asking questions. Derek and I decided to keep this on a down low, so I never told Mark anything. Also, everytime I ask him about Sadie, he snaps at me to get my nose out of his business. He's so bitter when we are by ourselves, but once a camera comes by, or another dancer, he turns back to the bubbly guy I knew. Luckily, his bitterness didn't stop us from making a pretty awesome dance that will definitely beat Sadie's and Derek's.

"Alright Bethany", Mark says as we are told to get to the floor "just stay focused, and remember to get close to my face in the beginning first moves. We need to show them that we have that passion." I nodded, a little nervous. There was one part in the beginning of the dance where we started apart, and came closer, then Mark grabs my face and pretends to kiss me while doing this funky thing with his feet. He never kissed me, and he told me he wouldn't, but it still made me nervous. We never kiss but it felt wrong to be so close to Mark, but this is all for DWTS. I put on my game face and head to the dining room set. I take a seat, across from Derek. This is the first time I saw him in person and it took me so much strength to not just go to his seat and hug him. The music starts and him and Sadie leave, just like the plan. I take my menu and do the dance I had memeroized. I stand up, Mark comes and we dance together. Soon enough, the part comes. I go close to Mark, just like he told me to, then braced for his fake kiss.

But a fake kiss was not what I got. Mark grabbed my face and kissed me on the lips, then releases me. I stare at his eyes, which are urging me to keep going. I do the rest of the routine, but every move that I practiced with so much attack seemed to become weak. I was still in shock of what happened. I was relieved once I heard the end of the song and rushed to my end scene. The song ended and Derek came and hugged me. It felt so nice to be in his embrace again. He releases, pats me on the back, and heads back to his spot with Sadie. Mark puts his arm around my waist to direct me with him to the judges. I do not look in his eye. He promised that he wouldn't kiss me. Was it just a mess up? No, don't be dumb Bethany, it definitely was not. I barely listen to what the judges say, until the mention something about Derek. I look up to him as Julianne made a comment about him, and laugh at his silly reaction. We walk up the stairs and talk about our dance. When the kiss was mentioned Derek looks at me hurt but plays it off like he was pretend jealous. On the commercial break, I drag Mark to the side.

"MARK WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT? I THOUGHT YOU SAID NO KISSES" I scream at him. Luckily no one was around.

"Calm down Bethany" he says giving me attitude.

"Calm down?! Mark you kissed Sadie, now me? What's wrong with you?!" I'm frustrated. Sadie was falling for Mark but I didn't want her to get hurt.

Mark's face dropped when I mentioned Sadie. I look over and ask him," Why would you kiss both of us?"

He sighs. "Because I'm in love, Bethany."

He made no sense to me. If he loved Sadie, why would he kiss me? "Then why would you kiss me?"

Mark avoids eye contact with me and says, "Because a person kisses someone when they are in love with them."
