Chapter 4: A horrifying secret

I stopped immediately, mortified; I wondered if I was tripping, I hadn't had anything yet that day, alcohol and THC alike.
"Uhm, Angela? Angela, are you seeing this?"
"Seeing what baby?"
"Uhm, well... Well this is what's left of the cond-om..." I choked.
"Huh? What did you say Will?" She asked.
"This is what's left of the condom." I repeated.
I held up the rubber ring as I stared horrified as to what just happened. She took it from my hand and her eyes widened.
"This is what's left of the condom?" She asked doubtingly.
"I don't know how else to say it Angela. I think we might have a problem."
I started to pace, thinking long and hard on what to do. I could hear and feel my heart beat in my throat.
"Wh-what do we do?" She asked.
I sighed. It was at that point I realize there is an easier way to handle the situation, to give her a plan B.
"I guess I'll have to buy a plan-" I started as she cut me off
"NO!" She shouted.
"Wh-what?" I was confused. "What do you mean?"
"Exactly as I said William, I refuse to take a plan B!"
I stared at her in disbelief. She only 17, didn't want to take the plan B? Why? What was her motive?
"What do you mean you refuse to take a plan B? What reason would you have to refuse such a request?"
"I said what I said William."
I laughed nervously.
"So, basically what you're saying is, you would rather not take a plan B, while it is true I did just inseminate you, it is also true that it wasn't anything either of us planned to do nor does it benefit either of us in any way; You're 17 and have dreams, why would you allow something like this to stall or stop that process? It's not wrong to take a plan B because there is nothing there to kill but sperm and egg, which is a natural occurring process in both instances, for males pre-cum, the sperm exits on its own and dies; For females it's through ovulation."
I found quickly, the entire time I was speaking she wasn't listening.
"William, it's my body I make the choices based on that fact! I do not wish to take it because I think if it's to happen then you should let it be."
"You do realize it's going to be a great burden on both of us right? I'm still in college, you, highschool. I can't afford to go part time at the university, I have too much left to do before I can become a cardiologist!"
"So, it's all about you huh? You think just because you're a hot shot in college you can go back on your obligations?"
"Obligations?!" I stood shocked and confused. "What obligations? You're not pregnant yet there is nothing to be obligated to! I don't understand why you choose to behave in such a manner, you're old enough to understand how difficult things are going to be yet you're trying to, this early have a child? I don't see the purpose in this."
" I'm done talking about this William." She turned away from me.
"Fine for now, but I'm not done as long as you keep this mentality. I'm going to go get some air." I dressed myself and walked out the door.

I sat on my ninja, phone in one hand, cigarette in the other; I called Bob, "Hey, I've got to speak, just listen first please; I don't know what to do man, Angela invited me over for a surprise and when I got there she was the only one home and she came onto me and we had sexual intercourse, specifically vaginal. But that's not the point, the point is the condom I was using broke and I wanted to give her a plan B but she says she refuses to take one. What do I do man, I'm not ready for children..." I sighed heavily evaluating all I just said and wondered if I got my point across. I sat there in silence listening for a response on the other end. "Bob?"
"Oh, sorry dude, I thought I had to wait to speak still." He laughed nervously.
"So, what should I do?"
He laughed. "So naive Willy-boy, there is a super easy fix for this, I'll be there in 20 minutes I know how to fix this."
"What is it then, if it's as simple as you say?"
He laughed again.
"You'll see when I get there."
"Alright fine, see you in a little while then."
"See ya." There was a click and the connection to our call was cut.

I sat quietly on my motorcycle, waiting for Bob to show up. My brain was twisting and turning trying to wrap my head around her reasoning for refusing the pill. I couldn't for the life of me make sense of this perplexing situation. As a sat awaiting Bob, Angela came outside.
"Baby...?"
"Yes, Angela?"
"Do you still like me?"
With these words I thought I understood, she was afraid to lose me... Or so I thought...
"Yes Angela, I'm not sure why you would think overwise."
"Baby, are you mad at me?"
"No, not mad, scared and confused. I'm not ready to be a father. There is a lot I still want to do before I pursue the gift of giving life. I don't understand how you, being younger than me could be ready for that. Are you upset with me?"
"A little... It sort of felt like you didn't want to be with me when that happened."
"Oh babe, that wasn't my intention I'm sorry for making you feel that way, like I said I'm scared and confused, but mostly scared."
"I still don't want to take the pill though baby..."
I sighed. "I suppose there is no changing your mind then?"
"Nope, I'm sorry baby, if it happens that your sperm manages its journey and I get pregnant, we will do it together, so you don't have to be scared." She smiled at me brightly, easing my heart a little, she was very beautiful.
"Alright babe, that makes me a feel a bit better." I wrapped my arms around her and kissed her forehead. "So, I have been thinking..."
"Is that a good thing?" She joked.
"Wait I'm being serious babe..."
"What is it?"
"Well, I decided that I love you Angela and I want to spend the rest of my life with you."
Her eyes widened. "Y-you love me...?"
I smiled and hugged her closer.
"Yes, with all my heart"
She was glowing, "I love you too Will."
As she spoke my name, I watched Bob pull up.
"Oh, Bob's here, let's go say hello." I released my grip on her and placed my hand in hers as we walked to his car.
She spoke before me. "Hey, Bob! How are you?"
"I'm doing just dandy." He said jokingly.
"Dandy?" I laughed. "How old are you 70?"
He grinned wildly. "No, I'm 420 years old for your information, I have been for my whole life."
We all three laughed. "But for real, I'm doing alright, how about you guys?"
I figured it best she answer first seeing as she was the one who originally asked how he was.
"I'm okay" she sounded as though she didn't mean it, but Bob didn't seem to notice so I didn't say anything about it.
"I'm doing well thank you."
"So..." Angela started.
"So?" Bob and I said simultaneously.
"So, what brings you here today Bob?"
"I just came by to see what you guys were up to. Oh, Angela. So, I accidentally ashed in my energy drink, would you like the rest of it?"
"For sure!" She said triumphantly.
He handed her the drink and winked at me while she wasn't looking.
'So, that was his plan all along? Spiking an energy drink, something she can't resist, with the pill. Definitely a solid way to make someone take something they wish not to.'
"Hey, Will. You want to head over to the bar and shoot some pool?"
I looked at Angela, wondering if she would choose to come or not, I soon had my answer.
"Ooo, ooo! Let me call my mom and see if I can go with you guys!"
She left to call.
"I'm definitely going, I need a break from thinking."
"I figured you might, is why I asked."
"Yeah and I am quite curious, it was in the drink, correct?"
"I figured you would realize."
"That's rather devious of you though."
"How do you figure that?"
"I would say that that was quite skillful and underhanded, would you not agree? And by definition that would make that a devious act."
"Then I suppose you'd be correct."
Angela walked up with a disappointed look on her face. "She said no because they have to come home sooner than expected and she wants me here to help with the boys."
"That's not fair... Alright babe, if that's what she said then so be it." I said so without meaning it, in reality I didn't want to look at her right then, because with my best friend I shared a horrifying secret.
