Narrator's pov
-
A crush, someone who we find ourselves instantly attracted to. Whether physically, romantically or even emotionally. We find ourselves drawn in by that person
We crave something from them, a simple glance into our eyes so that they would see our emotions we felt inside
A simple touch so that it would settle our nerves and desires
A simple word, so we were reassured that we weren't making it all up in our minds
A crush was hard to deal with, sometimes we don't even realize we have a crush on someone until we feel that heartbreak that follows
Jealously, wishing it was us they gave their attention to instead of their friends. We claim ownership over someone in our minds, which is why we feel pain when they break those boundaries by being around with someone else
We keep that pain inside because that is exactly where it is. In our minds. A story, a romance scene we all made up in our minds and it hurts because there's nothing we can do about it
Hell, Ember didn't even realize she had a crush
"You're something else, you know that?" Gabrielle asked as she slid into her side of the booth
"I could be your something else but you're playing" Ember smirked
"I'm straight, remember?" The girl asked
"You tend to say alot of things then change your mind the next day" Ember raised her brow as she also slid into her side of the booth, sitting on the opposite side of Gabrielle
It was the only way she could get a perfect view of the girl she didn't realize she was falling for
"You changed your clothes?" Ember asked, noticing that the girl wasn't in the same outfit she saw her in this morning
"And you put on clothes" Gabrielle chuckled
"I can take them off for you if you want" Ember smirked, hooking her thumb around her collar and starting to peel off her trench coat
Gabrielle's eyes widened as big as a full moon when she realized the girl was seriously going to start stripping. And by the looks of how bold she's been, Ember might as well be serious
"NOO" Gabrielle gasped, reaching over the table to press her hands down on the girl's jacket to avoid her peeling her clothing off in the middle of a full cafe
Maybe she did that for the sake of saving some ounce of Ember's dignity. Or maybe it was the fact that her heart was pounding in her chest and the familiar heat settled in the core at the thought of seeing Ember naked again, bringing a blush to her cheeks
The brunette tossed her head back as she allowed the fits of laughter to leave her throat
"Relax sweetheart, I was just taking off my jacket" She chuckled
"O-Oh" Gabrielle mumbled, slowly retreating her hands and feeling herself be flushed from embarrassment
The girl brought her lips to her cup as she avoided eye contact with the brunette who shook her head laughing
Gabrielle's fingers wrapped tighter around her cup as she gave a deep exhale into the beverage, allowing the steam to fill the air
But as she brought the cup down from her face and the steam cleared, she realized Ember was slowly leaning across the table with a sly smirk on her face
The sight was enough to make her shudder in pleasure, the slow way the girl was approaching her made her heart start to race in anticipation. As if her body shut down and everything else went out the window, Gabrielle sat frozen in her chair
Her eyes landing on the small curve in Ember's pink lips, putting her in an immediate trance at the sight. Those summer leaf green eyes had such a dominating demeanour, enough to draw her in and relish in the taste of her skin
"It's not like you haven't seen me naked before" Ember winked before shoving herself back into her seat
Gabrielle still sat frozen, taking back by the girl's boldness and the fact that her body wouldn't allow to her run
So she blushed, again. It was all she seemed to do these days, especially after meeting the brunette and it was getting on her nerves
"You should try putting some clothes on in the mornings so you don't catch a cold" She mumbled
"You should have seen the look on the neighbour's kid face-"
"Oh my god" Gabrielle gasped
"Yep" Ember giggled
"You did not make a child see yo-"
"Yep"
"Oh my God Ember" She chuckled
"My body my choice right?" the girl smirked
"You're ridiculous" Gabrielle shook her head laughing
"So I've been told" She shrugged
The silence between them fell as their green eyes met, a silence enough to hear the barrister stirring a cup with a plastic spoon, a silence that would only be parted when their eyes decided to glance away from each other. Green pierced into green, sensing every hesitant movement, every emotion that rested underneath, desperately wanting to figure each other out
"I'm sorry" Gabrielle mumbled
"For what?" the brunette questioned
"For assuming you were after me because you like the chase" she said
"Oh. That's oka-"
"No. I shouldn't have said that, I was out of line and I shouldn't have low-key called you a fuckgirl" Gabrielle mumbled, her eyes finally glancing away from green to land on the glass window
Her shoulder leaned against the frame, her chin resting in the palm of her hand as the side of her head rested against the glass, her eyes following every random water drop that ran down the clear glass. Ember watched her, admiring every movement of the girl as if she was mesmerized by her. Which indeed she was, Ember found herself slowly being sucked in by everything about the singer
The way her light green eyes would wonder over every drop, watching as it split into two and connected like dots to another trail
She looked at that window as if it was a portal of light from which to see the world
The way her lips would raise slightly, allowing her pearly whites to be revealed when the droplets would reach the bottom of the window pane, forming a small line with the rest that had rested there. Ember couldn't help but shake her head and smile at the girl. Precious, she looked. Absolutely precious
But she couldn't help but wonder if Gabrielle was always so innocent. She seemed so adorable outside and in the ways she acted, but she was bold to reject her parents orders and start her own life on her own. There must be some fierceness inside, but where was it locked away? And was Ember ever going to unlock it?
If she played her cards right, she just might
And that starts with being honest, even if it might cost her the opportunity to learning more about the blonde girl
"You're not wrong" Ember said, causing Gabrielle to peel her attention away from the glass
"Mhm?" the girl hummed
"that I am a fuckgirl"
