Chapter One

I know we have all thought about how we are going to die. I know I have but I never thought it would be like this. My life was perfect or so I thought. One event turned everything upside down and made my life go from perfect to horrible.

Here let me start from the beginning, I was the second out of four children to Michelle and Adam Jamieson. My name was Elizabeth Marie Jamieson. I had waist length light brown hair and bright blue eyes. I had a lot of friends but only two really close ones who I knew weren't just my friends for my money. Oh yeah my parents were really rich. My family wasn't particularly close. My older brother, Brian, my twin little sisters, Tiffany and Zoey and I were always really close. We looked out for each other and were always there if one of us had a problem.

It was the last week of school when we knew something was wrong. My parents were home for longer than a couple days. They told us it was so they could go to Brian's graduation, but we knew better. They didn't really care about his graduation, they wouldn't have even known if Tiffany hadn't said anything. They may have been home but they didn't spend much time home unless they needed sleep.

We were in my brothers new 2011 Shelby Mustang when my phone started to vibrate. I looked at the caller id and saw it was my mom calling.

            "Hello," I answered.

"Hey hun, when you kids get home we need to talk." My mom replied in a strained voice.

            "About what. Mom?" I asked.

"Don't worry about it. You will find out when you get home." She hung up on me.

"That was weird. They want to talk to us when we get home." I explained.

Brian gave me a questioning look and I just shrugged my shoulders in response. The rest of the car ride home we listened to Tiffany and Zoey talk about their day at school and their plans for the summer. Next year they would be freshman, I would be a senior and Brian would be in college.  Or at least that's what my parents would think. Brian didn't want to go to college, he wanted to travel the world and enjoy life, but I was the only one who knew that.

We finally made it to our house. Looking at it, it was beautiful and you would think that the perfect family lived inside but of course one didn't. We grabbed our stuff out of the trunk and went inside. My parents were sitting on the couch in the foyer. Unlike usual they were on opposite ends of the couch.

"Children, please sit down." My father said in his stern voice.

We sat down on the couch opposite them and gave them confused looks.

"Brian and Elizabeth I need you to pack your belongings immediately." My mother told us.

            "Why only us?" Brian questioned.

"Because we are leaving this house once you graduate. Your father has been having an affair and we decided to get a divorce and he will take the twins while I take you two. We are moving out of the state." She said with tears in her eyes.

"But why do you have to separate us kids. What the hell did we ever do to you?" I scream.

"It would be easier that way and since I will be traveling more it makes more sense to take the older two that can fend for themselves. Well technically I'll only have one kid living with me since Brian is going away to college."

"We excused you all for the rest of the week so today was your last day of school." My father told us.

I ran up the stairs and to my room. I slammed my door hard enough to knock some of the pictures off the walls in the hallway. I turned on my iPod and put it in my iHome. Disturbed was blasting through my speakers that were placed all around my room. I texted my bffs Hailey and Sara telling them the horrid news.  I looked around my room and saw they had already brought boxes up.

I slowly started packing all my stuff up. I took down all my pictures and laughed when I saw how my family used to look so happy. Once my blue walls were barren I moved onto my book cases and everything around my room. By the time I got half of my room packed it was 11. I went into my connecting bathroom and took a nice long shower.

I kept checking my phone but I still hadn't got any replies from Hailey or Sara. I crawled into my bed and thought of all the possibilities of where we could move. I didn't want to leave behind everything I had here but maybe it could be a good thing. I fell asleep to KoRn and with these thoughts running through my mind.

I woke up to my family screaming at each other. I looked at my alarm clock and saw that it was 7 in the morning. I rolled out of bed and grabbed my black fuzzy robe and walked out of my room.

"Why the hell do we have to leave?" Brian yelled as I reached the stairs.

"Because your father wants us out of this house so his slut can move in and become the twin's new mommy. And I want to get as far as I can from your father." Mom screamed at him.

"Do you two mind, some people in this house are trying to sleep and forget that they have to leave their whole life behind just because her parents can't work things out." I yell at everyone.

"Sis, calm down." Brian said calmly.

"I'll calm down when my life starts to make sense again. Don't tell me to calm down when not even two minutes ago you were yelling at mother."

"Fine, whatever. I'm leaving for the day." Brian stalked out of the kitchen.

"Go ahead Brian and do what you do best and runaway." I yell at his retreating figure.

My mom glared at me and left the kitchen with tears in her eyes. I didn't think anything of what I had said but little did I know that, that was going to be the last time I saw him for awhile.  I ate my breakfast thinking about how quickly things can fall apart. I heard the door slam and saw my mom leaving. The house was really quiet so I figured that I was home alone, and I had figured right. None of my family came home for the rest of the week. I spent the time going through my dad's study taking everything that I wanted so I would remember him and the times we had.

It has been a week since I texted my friends and they still hadn't replied, so I decided to go to the school and see what was up. I walked into the cafeteria to find them sitting with the people we couldn't stand. They saw me and turned back to their new friends as if I never existed. I hung my head and walked out of the school finally glad to be moving in a couple hours.

When I got home my mom was home and helping load a U-Haul truck. My brother still hadn't shown up and I knew he wouldn't. He was doing what he always wanted, traveling the world. Maybe this move and change will be a good experience, I thought as the last box was loaded. I couldn't have been more wrong.
