Chapter 13
It's been a hell of a week of school, but I was just happy that today it was Friday. It has been so awkward with Vic ever since we were at that diner. He didn't say much to me, not even in French 1. Although we sat together, he wouldn't even glance at me. It did hurt a bit since I didn't know what the reason for that was. Maybe he was angry that I left him when we were talking? I don't know, but he was sure good at ignoring me so I didn't even try to talk to him.
Besides that, I can officially say that I was friends with Jenna. Talking with her in math made the class so much better and she was also a genius with that stuff so she helped Mike and I with our work. I'm still quite confused on why Vic was angry when he was talking about me and Jenna. That boy is just full of mysteries. Maybe he had bad blood with her?
Either way, school was over and it was Friday so I could finally relax. Mike and some of his buds had plans for the weekend but I decided to skip. I really just wanted to sleep.
I was walking over to where Vic's car would be parked, but when I did I saw something unexpected. Vic was with another guy that I had never seen before. He had dirty blond hair and kind of had a serious of look on his face.
They were talking like two normal guys, but it didn't look like he was just any other guy. They hugged and I was taken back a little. I felt something in the pit of my stomach at the sight but I couldn't look away.
After they pulled back, the guy walked away and got inside his car. Vic waved goodbye as he drove off.
I didn't know what to feel. I mean, I have no idea why I felt this way either or what it was. I don't even know the guy for Christ sake!
Since I couldn't really force myself to walk up to Vic, I waited for Mike. He appeared five minutes later. When we got to Vic's car, he said that he wouldn't be going home and that he was going to go with Jaime.
"Kellin can go with you," Mike said simply.
"Go where?" I asked once I heard my name. Vic looked at me quickly but then at his brother.
"He doesn't have to come. I can go by myself." Vic quickly interjected.
"I'll come," I fired back looking at Vic even though I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Mike just smiled like it was settled.
Vic sighed and said a faint 'whatever' before getting inside his car. Mike said goodbye to us and I sat on the passenger side. Once he started driving the car, I decided to speak.
"So where are we exactly going?"
"Just to my grandparents house to drop off their new couch. That's why I brought dad's truck today since I would need to pick it up." He said and I realized he hadn't brought his own car.
I nodded slowly and wondered how long I would be with Vic. Maybe I could even get some answers from him and finish our conversation. I don't know how, but maybe it can happen.
"You know you didn't have to come. I could've done it by myself," he said but I rolled my eyes.
"I know, but this is what friends do, right?" I snickered at him and now it was his turn to roll his eyes.
The rest of the ride was actually pretty silent. It wasn't a total awkward silence, but still held its tension. Music played in the background and left me to my thoughts.
It had probably been more or less 45 minutes by the time when we got to furniture store since we had to leave town. I didn't do much since the employees were the ones to place the new couch on the back. Ten minutes later we arrived at a small neighborhood where Vic's grandparents live. I was nervous when he knocked on their door. Vic assured me that it would be fine but I still had that nagging feeling in the back of my head.
