...INFINITY WAR...

~ chapter nine ~

"everyone, on my position. we have incoming," luna heard steve say, signaling that she was near him.

"what the hell?" nat mumbled, quickly turning when noise came from the bushes.

luna limped out into the opening, pulling out a thin branch that had caused a stain of blood on her suit. she slowly turned to her side when she felt the wound closing up, noticing sam's confused and disgusted face.

"cap, that's him," bruce informed.

"eyes up. stay sharp."

with the stones, thanos managed to stop those who attacked him. luna tried to give it a shot, only to be pulled back by the blonde assassin.

as soon as wanda began to get rid of the stone, okoye and nat ran towards thanos at full speed while luna flew up. he flung bucky away before turning his attention to the woman. he did the same to okoye as he did to bucky, and used the ground against natasha, crushing her. luna shot an arrow, only for it to be shot back at her, stabbing her and causing her to hang from a tree.

with no hesitation, the demigod pulled the arrow out and let herself fall into the plants. she jumped to her feet and ran towards thanos, blinding him for a couple moments, long enough for steve to get another punch in. luna raised the temperature in her hands and grabbed onto the gauntlet in hopes of damaging it. the purple monster realized what she was doing, and picked up his arm, swinging her in the direction of captain america and causing the two to collide. the duo attempted to get their breath back, but thanos punched them at the same time, knocking them out.

when wanda noticed thanos making his way over to her, she extended her left arm and red mist followed, creating a shield that thanos struggled against.

"it's alright," vision said, only making more tears appear in the rims of her eyes. "it's alright. i love you."

the stone shattered, creating an explosion.

"i understand, my child," thanos whispered as he passed wanda, "better than anyone."

"you could never."

"today, i lost more than you could know, but now is no time to mourn. now is no time at all."

luna blinked multiple times, groaning as she stood up from the floor. spotting wanda, she rushed to the witch's side while thanos reversed time, going back to before vision exploded.

"no!" both girls shouted, running over to the log, only to be thrown back.

grabbing vision by the neck, thanos lifted him up into the air, ultimately choking the android. he squished vision's head and collected the stone, tossing the latter's gray body aside.

suddenly, thor appeared, and shot electricity and his hammer, lodging it into thanos' chest.

"i told you, you'd die for that," thor panted, pushing the hammer and causing the titan to scream in pain.

"you should have—-you should—-you should have gone for the head."

"no!"
