chapter twenty-one - return of the jedi
Erin's POV
"How could you not know 'Slow Ride' is about sex? Sam, it's literally called 'Slow Ride'," I giggle.
Sam and I were currently sat in the front seats of my car in the McKinley High parking lot, just like we'd done everyday before school since we became officially boyfriend and girlfriend earlier this week.
Sam grins and shakes his head at me.
"Exactly," he laughs. "That could just as easily be about riding horses."
"Except the lyrics are, like, very explicitly about sex," I grin.
"Erin, are you really trying to tell me how a song from the 1993 cult classic Dazed and Confused goes?"
"Your little movie trivia won't help you here," I grin, looking for the song on my phone. "Look," I laugh, pointing at the lyrics on my phone. "'Hold me, roll me, slow ridin' woman you're so fine,'" I read out the lyrics, watching him try to muffle down a laugh once he realized he'd lost the argument.
"Need I remind you, I am actually dyslexic, so-"
"Nope, there's no excuse for that one, cowboy," I grin in amusement, making him let out a defeated laugh. I hop out of the car and grab my bag out of the back seat before making my way inside. Sam quickly catches up to me and laces his fingers with mine as we walk down the hallway.
"Hey, I need to meet with Coach Bieste before class," he smiles down at me, as the two of us reach my locker. I nod and he places a small kiss on my lips. "See you later," he grins before walking towards the locker room.
I turn and open my locker to rummage around for my Biology textbook, when I hear a familiar voice call out from behind me.
"Hey, hot stuff."
I freeze at the sound and slowly turn around. My breath almost hitches as I lock eyes with nonother than Noah Puckerman-- already back from juvie.
I let my eyes scan across his face. I don't know why I assumed he would come back unrecognizable. Actually he looked more like himself than when he'd left. His mohawk was grown back out in full force. The only real difference was the fact that his ears were pierced.
He rests his hand on the lockers beside my head and takes a step closer to me, making my back press against the lockers behind me. A small smirk creeps across his lips at my reaction.
"I heard about your little boyfriend," he frowns, making me snap out of my brief train of thought which may or may not have involved Noah pushing me up against the lockers and-
"How was juvie?" I roll my eyes, pushing past him and walking down the hallway towards my class. I hear his footsteps close behind me.
"Well, I left for a few weeks and this girl that I'm in love with started dating some random fucking dude she just met," he calls after me, making my eyes widen. I turn to face him and frown, looking around to see if anyone had heard him. "I never thought you'd be the type of person to entertain my stupid little infatuation with you just for fun," he clenches his jaw, but his eyes were soft with a sort of pleading sadness.
"I was never 'entertaining you'," I raise my voice in defense before remembering where we were. I take a deep breath and look around nervously. "Look, I'm glad you're back, but I have a boyfriend now," I breathe. "I'm sorry," I turn and walk into my class, leaving him standing in the middle of the hallway.
