Waking up bright and early super excited and nervous but excited non the less. I opened my eyes to see my room and Mr. Kitty our beautiful big black fluffy cat. Kissing me awake as always, i stretch my muscles away and uncovered myself out of my black bed sheets. My nightstand covered in my usual mug with tea residue and my current book. I grab my phone and see a message from my childhood friend Victoria who currently lives in her native Russia.
"Can't wait to see you, message when here and on your way, love you!"
With a big smile on my face, I put my phone away and make my way to my bathroom. Pulling my hair up in a pony tail, I start to brush my teeth, next my face. Cleaning up my counter top and going back to my room I look around and grab my old mug before I head down stairs to have a quick breakfast with my mother. Alexandria Gemma who has her back to me washing dishes. She has your own bakery/cafe shop "Sweetness" and we do extremely well. You could say my mom is famous for her sweets around town. I've been working with her ever since I can remember. Besides going to school and reading my books, you can find me working along her side almost everyday.
Mom being the best mother ever has my favorite breakfast ready for me, pancakes, eggs and bacon with my black coffee. I love this woman, I tell myself as I start digging in after dropping my mug in the sink before giving her a kiss on the cheek.
"Goodmorning honey, how did you sleep? Are your excited to visit Victoria for Christmas?" Giving me her beautiful smile.
"I slept normal as always and yes ma'am, I can not wait to see her and the rest of her family, especially this time of year. I wish you could come though, you can still make it you know, not too late. " Giving her puppy eyes.
"Oh sweetheart, I just can't up and leave, I'll be ok here. I have planned a girls only Christmas gathering with my friends. I just don't feel comfortable leaving the shop, you know." Shrugging her shoulders and sighing. Looking back at me she smiles watching me eat as she makes her way next to me in our kitchen island as she starts eating herself, her usual eggs and spinach with cream and sugar coffee.
"I feel bad leaving you here during Christmas. " looking up at her with a pout.
"I know you don't know what you want to do, "yet" and you hold off going this summer but really baby. It's ok and it's the perfect time to go. You're done with school and have no job job per se, so it's very perfect. Their winters are what I can only imagine as grand and magical, plus I'll get a little break from you." She laughs while I give her a hurt look making her laugh more.
"Maybe next year we can plan a short stay, I do miss them." As she nods her head."We definitely must then. " putting my head on her shoulder.
We continue to eat and comfortable silence, both finishing up our breakfast. I get up going to the sink to clean my plate but my mom stops me.
" Mila honey leave them be, I'll clean them myself, go on up and finish getting ready and packing." She tells me.
"Ok mom, thank you for a great breakfast, you're the best." While walking back up to her giving her a hug and kiss from behind.I head up stairs, start getting dressed, in my usual black jeans, with a white long sleeve shirt, tall black boots and my black winter jacket I finish packing what little left I have to pack. I pack several books for reading since I'll have a very long flight which is perfect for reading.
Mom shouting to hurry up or we're going to miss the flight from down stairs. One last look around my room and petting Mr. Kitty I hurry down stairs and out the door we go. Traveling through our small town going to the airport kinda feels like it's the last time, I don't know what it is but I push it back in my head and keep looking forward to the fun we're going to have once I'm with my friend. Finally making our way to the gates of the airport I start to feel a little nervous. Stopping the car at the entrance of the airport doors, I turn to my mom who has her beautiful smile, smiling at me and I give her a quick hug and kiss not wanting to hold up the line, "I love you mom, I'll see you a few weeks."
