Charming guided Max into the garden, Max's eyes lit up slightly as he took in the garden. It looked bigger than what he had seen since the city wasn't really decorated with nature. It seemed like a good place to escape, his fingers grazing over the string of the swing that was attached to the tree. It was quite a big swing, so he sat on the swing and patted on the spot next to him. He felt like he was overstepping, beckoning for the prince to sit by him. Yet, the prince seemed to almost smile at the fact.
"Sorry- this is probably me overstepping, I don't know I just want you to be near me- and I can't believe I just actually said that out loud-" he chuckled, slightly blushing.
"You know- there's something special about you," he said, taking a seat next to him. His eyes seemed to twinkle with something that Max couldn't place his finger on, but he knew that it just made him get lost in his eyes more than he already was.
"My power and title doesn't seem to intimidate you, why is that? I mean everybody else that seems to always surround me makes sure they bow, call me majesty- why is it that you seem to differ from the rest?" He questioned. It wasn't necessarily a question that he wanted to be answered, it was him just voicing his thoughts. There was definitely something special about Max and maybe that is what drew Charming towards him, what made him feel different than anybody had ever made him feel before.
"I don't know- I just" he sighed, fiddling with his fingers. "I will sound like a fanboy- but I've always dreamed of meeting you since I saw your face on the magazine, that's why I knew I had to come to this event tonight, I had to get a chance to see you, but I never thought I would actually get to dance with you, nevermind being sat this close to you and actually having a conversation with you. I feel like this is all a dream and I will wake up tomorrow and not remember any of it, so I want to admit something-" he looked up at the prince, his eyes being tender and encouraging.
"I'm gay-" shit, no that was not what he meant to say. Fuck him and his gorgeous looks, it was making him lose track of what he was actually saying, and causing him to spill what he wanted to say instead. He wanted to tell him that he had a crush on him ever since he had seen his picture, but he wanted to also admit that he had been longing for the chance to actually get to know more about him. Looks only told so much, and he tried to use every detail of those images to try and learn as much about him as he could, but his eyes and other aspects could only tell him so much-
But he felt slightly relieved when he wasn't met with a look of judgement or surprise, but rather his gorgeous chuckle that escaped his lips. "Join the club-" he smiled, and Max suddenly felt all the relief flood through him, but he also found himself processing a new emotion- the Prince was gay? Did that mean...could he actually have a chance? I mean that was absurd...right?
"You are? I mean- I had my suspicions, but I don't know- I didn't expect you to be, I guess. I mean I don't know, I don't really know what I'm saying. Sorry, you can shut me up, I ramble too much."
The Prince placed a finger under his chin, turning his chin so that he could face him. He looked deeply into his eyes and leaned in to place a soft, tender kiss on his lips. He sank into the moment, not registering what it was that he was doing, but rather following his instincts. all his instincts were telling him to shut him up with a kiss, his lips looked so kissable and he couldn't seem to stop himself from resisting any longer, desperate to feel how they felt on his lips, how they tasted- every detail of that kiss he wanted to be implanted in his mind.
But as quickly as he leant into the kiss, it was as quick as it took him to come back to his senses and pull away. "Oh dear, I don't know why I did that- what type of prince am I to kiss someone without asking them first, consent is a key factor- gosh my morals seem to have gone completely out the window, I just can't seem to resist my urges." He was pacing, criticising himself for his actions. He definitely wasn't acting like how a prince should.
Max got up, placing a hand on his shoulder and stopping him from pacing. "It was nice- I can't say I didn't enjoy the way you chose to shut me up-"
"No, I must correct it at once," he said, quickly fiddling in his pocket for something. "Sit, sit down," he urged him, looking frantic now.
Once Max had been seated, he found himself getting on one knee and pulling out the ring his mother gave him. "I must correct this at once- so Max will you do the honour of marrying me?"
Max looked at the ring and back at the Prince, then he looked at the time. This was a scenario he had always dreamed of happening in his head, and here he was- the dream becoming a reality. He couldn't do this though, he wanted to, but it wasn't right and he knew that. The prince didn't really know him, nor did he fully know the Prince just yet.
"I-" the bell struck midnight, and he felt tears almost glistening in his eyes. "I have to go-" he got up, frantic knowing that he had to leave. He was terrified that the prince would think he was running away from him, but he had to leave-
"Max, wait- you don't have to say yes- just stay please," his voice sounded desperate, vulnerable and it broke Max's heart into pieces.
"If I knew you better- I would have said yes-" was his final words before he dashed off before the prince could catch him. He was so quick that he didn't notice the card to the coffee shop he worked at slip out of his pocket, but his eyes had gotten too blurry from the tears...
