-HER-
I screamed at the top of my lungs as I fell and fell and fell into the dark hole. The odd part was that my scream didn't echo. I didn't know how long I fell but it felt like forever. I had my eyes squeezed shut and the wind was swooshing past my ears as gravity claimed me. I had stopped screaming because it seemed useless.
Although at one point, the wind stopped swooshing past my ears and I felt something holding me. I realized that the fall had broken but how?
I soon felt a presence, a very powerful presence that I had felt last evening. I soon realized that two arms were holding me.
I was met with a pair of glowing golden-brown eyes as soon as I snapped my eyes open. My breath got stuck into my throat and my already racing heart sped up even more. I shivered in his arms the longer I stared into his intense golden brown eyes illuminated in the dark.
They blinked at me a couple of times before I was finally being let down. I put a lot of distance between me and the owner of those eyes as soon as my feet touched the ground.
I took a moment to look at the rest of him. He was wearing the long velvety black cloak that looked very real on him and his long dreadlocks laid over his shoulder. A part of me was already wondering how it would be like to run my fingers through them. although I soon shook the idea off my head as soon as I was reminded of Pax.
I demanded to him next, "Where's my leopard?"
He stared at me pensively for a second longer before nodding behind me. It was the first time when I noticed the place we were in. It seemed like an underground tunnel. The walls were covered with poisonous vines and the ground felt soggy. It was completely dark here except for our glowing eyes.
My heart was ramming in my chest as I turned around to see what was behind me. I felt butterflies in my stomach. Maybe it was because of the fact that it was the first time when I had found myself alone with him or maybe, it was because I was going to see Pax after worrying about him all day long. Or maybe it was because of both.
As I turned around on my heels, he lit up the place. I paled and froze in my place when the first thing that I spotted in the light was the skeleton of what looked like an animal that would resemble a snow leopard. I was going to scream again but I bit it back and swallowed.
Instead, I looked past the skeleton and finally saw a familiar coat of spotted fur that only belonged to Pax. I finally found him laying on the floor at a distance. I gasped and without wasting any moment, I dashed towards him.
"Pax!" I cried as I went down on my knees and wrapped my arms around him but I froze again when I didn't get any response from my leopard. I watched his head dangling lifelessly with wide eyes. A piercing pain instantly stabbed my chest before my eyes swelled up with tears. Grief washed over me instantly as I hugged his lifeless body and sobbed.
"What did you do to him?" I turned around and demanded to Ezekiel who was standing behind me, leaning by the wall and watching me silently with a pensive look painted over his face. He stared at me for a second longer before straightening up and stalking towards me.
I couldn't help but notice how tall he really was and the regal-ness oozing off his body. I could feel the surge of his power wash over me like a big tide threatening to swallow everything that stood in its way.
He stepped in front of me and looked down at me as if I was one of his subjects.
"That's for insulting me," He spoke. His words fed my loathing for him. Blinded by rage, I reached into my cloak and pulled out my sword before swinging it at him.
