General Christopher Kyle had seen his fair share of fighting. Now in his mid-fifties, he had almost given up hope of finding someone worthy of his skill and experience to follow. Most of the wars he had been in were prior to the formation of the United States of Europe, who many had dubbed the new Roman Empire.
Most of the fighting since then had been with terrorist factions who were against the formation of the U.S.E. and the other three groups of countries; The United Americas States. The U.A.S. countries were split up into three sectors. Sector one was made up of North and South America. Sector two Canada and Alaska, with Greenland, the Arctic and Antarctica making up the third sector. These sectors had been relatively easy to form as they were already in existence to a certain extent.
The Eastern Confederation States were much harder. Again they were split up into three sectors. The first was made up of China, Mongolia, Japan and the Philippines. The second included Indonesia, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand. The third was made of the countries from India up to the border of the U.S.E sector four, previously Russia, and from China up to but not including Iran, running east to west.
The U.S.E itself was split into four sectors. Sector One Northern Europe. Sector two Africa. Sector three the countries that previously made up most of the Middle East, including Iran and sector four Russia. There had been many conflicts with citizens of the newly established sectors, neighbouring countries that had never got on, now had to.
The General had overseen the formation of the U.S.E sectors one and three, both of which had taken to the formations badly. Once the sector were in place, he had become well known for handling terrorist factions and was given the post within the U.S.E Elite forces to deal with any further uprising that might affect the delicate balance that now existed across this global village.
Over a short period of time the terrorist threat seemed to fizzle out as this new global society became dependent on one another for food, energy and water. Initially a few terrorist factions continued with their attacks, until the people began to rise up as one and stand against it.
Each sector began to deal with, even a perceived threat, with swift deadly force. You could become a global citizen, with rights and privileges, as long as you toed the line. If you chose to rebel you either starved or at the other end of the scale you were simply eliminated.
Within this environment Lucian had risen, always in the back ground, drawing his inner circle together. The clandestine group had the express purpose of the removal of the sector governments and the creation of a united Global government.
The formation of the U.S.E. Elite force was Lucian's idea. They would be a fighting force against terrorism and its threat of tearing the world apart. The other three state sectors quickly followed, mirroring the U.S.E Elite force practices.
It was at this point that Lucian or rather a company that Lucian owned presented the case for amalgamating all the armed forces. The company would finance the needs of this vast army. All the sectors agreed and gave control of their military forces over to Lucian.
Then the Elite groups and all the individual armed forces, almost overnight, became the United Global State Elite Force (UGSEF), with Lucian putting General Kyle in charge.
As The General walked back to his room and recalled past events both global and personal. It occurred to him that both he and the other members of Lucian's inner circle had been pre-selected for the express purpose of being part of Lucian's plan for global domination.
He retired to his room and settled into a large leather chair to go through the black folder Lucian had given him. It took him two hours to read through the whole of the file.
'Very interesting, very interesting indeed' he said.
Azakel appeared.
'You have questions' he said more of a statement than a question.
The General nodded. He placed the folder to one side and went to pour himself a glass of whisky. As he stood at the drinks cabinet, he asked his first question
'What do you think Jerobim's plan is?'
The angel pondered for a moment, allowing the General to sit back down in his chair. The General indicated to the angel to sit as well.
'Well' Azakel began as he sat 'it would seem to me from the intelligence gathered that Jerobim has decided to betray the inner circle to the enemy and claim a position in the process.'
The General leaned back in his chair, allowing Azakel's answer to mull over in his mind.
'Who is this Xavier that he held at the airport'
Azakel leant forward in his seat.
'Xavier is one of Lucian's Grandsons, He may not be the chosen one but he is a formidable opponent.'
The General frowned
'Why is Xavier an opponent of ours?'
'Xavier wants Jake to join him, to harness his power.'
The General took a drink from his glass, the whisky burning his throat.
'General, you must have realised by now, that Lucian is not so much interested in this Earth, but he sees it as a means to an end' said Azakel.
'I must confess, there are times when what Lucian does just doesn't make sense and his plans seem far bigger than would be required to stage a coup on all of the sectors' replied the General.
Azakel stood and went to get the whisky decanter, returning it to the General's desk.
'You may need another drink after this.'
The General poured a generous amount into his glass and waited for Azakel to begin.
'The weapons development that is currently happening is not for a battle on this planet or even this realm.'
Azakel paused to let it sink in.
'Lucian and those like us rebelled against IAM. We followed Lucifer and were cast out. We lived on a planet between time and eternity called Xaria. Lucian plans to wrestle this planet from Lucifer's control. We plan to lead an assault against the ultimate dictator.'
The General was trying to get it to compute, here he was talking to an angel, discussing the assault on an alien planet that housed fallen angels and who know what else. The General continued with his questions
'Where does Jake fit into all this? I know that Lucian said he was important.'
Azakel pour the General some more whisky.
'Jake is an important asset to our cause. There is a legend on Xaria of an order of angelic assassins, that was hunted down by Lucifer after an assassination attempt on him failed. Most of Xaria, believe they were a myth. But they did exist. Lucian was the head of the order, the Drakim. Jake bears the mark of the one to fulfil the prophesy; that the order will rise again.
If Jake is the chosen one, he is only just beginning to understand his gift and he will be vulnerable. When the gift is fully awakened he will be virtually unstoppable. He will lead an elite group of secret assassins. Lucian would like them on our side.'
The General downed the remaining whisky in the glass.
'It would seem that there is much more to Lucian's plans that he has been letting on. Who else knows?' asked the General.
'You, Helena and we believe Jerobim. That is why we need to keep an eye on him'
The General stood from his chair and placed the black folder in his desk draw and locked it.
'Then we should get right on it then.' He said as he put the drawer key in his jacket pocket.
The General left his room and headed off to make the necessary arrangements. Despite Azakel fading from view, he could still sense the presence of the angel.
