Authors note: JESS's POV

I wandered through town, my eyes drooping, my moisturized face showing no sign of a skincare routine due to Chloe's murder. My heart keeps pounding fast and my stomach swaying; How can I get through this? Three friends, one of them my family, and I lost them all. I hate myself for not being in touch more.

I dropped my phone and jumped as I heard my name being called "Jess!!" Miles shouted and ran over to me, his face full of concern, he grabbed at my beige blazer.

"What?" I answered and Miles looked taken aback at my tone. "Uh, Jess, Chloe's-" He started but I waved in his face "Sh!" I said and he looked even more concerned as I tapped his arm "Miles, just shhh, I don't want to talk about her ok. She's gone, do I need to keep reliving it every five-" Miles butted in with a kiss "Sorry, I didn't think. Jess, I know it's difficult and I know you like hiding things away but I love you, I am here for you and when you eventually want to speak- I am here."

I couldn't seem to shake the weird feeling I had. It resonated through every vein in my body.

*Buzz* My phone vibrated in my pocket as I was coming out of the town's market. I fished my phone out of my bag and see my screen illuminated and I clicked on the text from 07784567884 I clicked onto the text and it read 'Want to know what happened to your bestie? Meet me at loggies at 12 midnight, come alone, or another one dies. - Your worst nightmare'.

12 Midnight hit and my phone alarm blared, I pushed sleep and wandered down the quiet street, deserted, hedges and big trees surrounding the park. I crossed the quiet road and walked toward the park, hearing the trees swaying and feeling the breeze smack my face. I pulled my beige blazer closer to me, moved my blonde hair behind my neck, and confidently strolled forward.

I heard squeaking once I pushed the red gate to enter the park and had wind brush past my face "Hello?" I called and the squeaking continued and my feet hit gravel "Hello?" I called again and then I heard rustling. I spun around panicking and see someone come through the gate and realized it was Jade "Oh my .. what are you doing?!" I asked, my breathing slower than usual and a near on panic attack happening and she jumped "OH!" she shouted "SHHHH!" I heard behind me and jumped. I spun around and see Molly "What are you doing here too?!" I said and both of them had labored breathing.

Jade was the first to speak as the wind whipped our faces and the now deserted swing squeaked "Sorry Jess, I had... Well, a text. Told me to be here for-" Just as Jade went to finish her sentence we heard a creak behind us and we all swung around, Jade looked to the left of me "We need to leave- NOW!" Jade shouted and grabbed both mine and Molly's arms, Molly paused for a second and then I see someone, a dark shadow running toward us and moved my feet before my head could move, Jade was first out of the gate, it squeaked loud and I spun around to look behind me, Molly standing behind me, she turned to face me her face glowing in the moonlight, the wind moved past my face and I screamed "MOVE! MOO NOW!" and ran and heard Molly behind me. As the gate shut behind me with a smash we all kept on running, towards Jade's house.

As we got to Jades there were police cars everywhere, sirens blaring and flashing and we all stalled to a slow walk, Jade's face turned "MUM! DAD" she shouted noticing an ambulance at the top of the street and she went running towards her house and we followed, as we got closer to Jade's a police officer we didn't recognize, a small male officer of Chinese descent approached us "Girls. Your friends been found. She is alive." He said and we all breathed "Chloe!" We shouted and ran towards Jades but he put his arms out "Am so sorry girls. No, It's not Chloe" And we all fell silent. My head felt fuzzy "But- Who?" I asked and then my head swam. We wandered into Jades each of us trying to calm the other and ourselves until we see a figure sitting on the sofa, a shivering girl, blondey brown hair muffled and tangled and her twinkly aqua blue eyes twinkling with tears, her arms wrapped around herself. I couldn't believe what I was seeing! Our LAUREN! Missing, Dead, Murdered all this time OUR LAUREN. Me and Jade ran to her and hugged her, tears streaming, Molly had lost her sister but barely knew Lauren, for her, this was a bittersweet hello and a goodbye.
