Dream moved the moment Sapnap had jumped into the black water. His sword was out in moments, shield ready and food available at his side. He went for the one closest to him first. He knew the first three seconds would be the hardest as they all had their arrows loaded and ready, so he used Sapnap's distraction to take out one, and when the arrows flew through the air, he danced around them, dodging and weaving this way and that, knowing the directions the arrows were all coming from. After he'd calculated the last one to have shot, he struck. As they paused to reload, which he had also counted the first time an arrow was shot back at the tree, he held nothing back and attacked. Every hit he landed was brutal, and he landed them all. He really had tried to let bygones be bygones. He really never wanted to kill them, he didn't want to kill anyone. But they pushed him too far. Way too far. Now the only thing on his mind was George and Sapnap. Would they make it? Would Sapnap be able to save George in time? He had no clue, but he had to trust him. He used a dead body as a shield and ran behind him, pulling out arrows from the dead man's pack and used them to stab someone with an axe nearby. He ran up to three, all trying to reload, glinting in his eye he moved to the side quickly, then threw the dead body that was now useless with too many arrows impairing it. He tore a bite out of the bread. The body flew through the air and knocked them to the ground before it continued to roll off the edge and fall off. He grabbed onto one of the three, looked him in the eyes though he would never know with his mask, and took his life. He then shifted behind him and let his body fall upon him, then held up his arms like a puppet, and used the crossbow that was now loaded and still in his arms to shoot the one next to him. He then flung the body off him, as though he was suddenly disgusted by it. They both dropped over the edge. He stabbed the last one and was gone to fight more, all before the first human shield had hit the surface of the water.
Dream had a gift. Lighting fast reflexes. He speed simply could not be matched. He couldn't think. He had to force himself to breathe as that's what neither of his friends could do at that moment. He needed to be strong. To win. To save them all. He saw the one wearing George's goggles. Red. The man from before looked surprised and afraid. All he saw was red. There was a large beast charging at him.The goggles were stored safely in Dreams hoodie pocket. He prayed it wouldn't fall out. That's all that mattered. Don't fall out. It was getting cluttered on the dock, he needed to push some bodies off. The next rain of arrows would come soon. Where was everyone?
When the last body fell to the floor, he moved his hand to his pocket. It was still there. Good. He then ran as fast as he could, the only footsteps heard on the dock now were his, as he ran full speed off the dock and dove into the water. It was cold. It was bloody. Where are they? So many bodies. There they are.
Sapnap was struggling. He had fallen far behind George in the water, neither looked like they could hold their breath much longer. Sapnap looking as he had given up until he saw Dream swimming towards them. Oh, thank god. He could make it now, now they actually had a chance. Dream reached George in no time then glanced over to Sapnap. Although he didn't look it, he nodded his head, signaling he would be fine. Dream nodded and swam up to the surface. Sapnap followed suit. Feeling all his air bubbles gone, feeling himself dying, he swam to the top. It still felt like years, but the moment he broke the surface he gasped cartoon-like and trod the water for a bit, recovering his breath. For a moment he felt like he wasn't going to be able to have this feeling again. But here he was breathing. After recovering, he looked around. George and Dream were making the long swim back to shore. He groaned, grabbed some food, munched quickly, then followed after them.
When he had finally reached the shore he realized that Dream was still very tense. He looked to George whose eyes were closed and mouth gag now hanging around his neck. Oh no. He rushed over.
"Is he breathing?"
"I don't know" Dream replied. Sapnap felt around George's neck and felt a pulse. He sighed heavily in relief. This caused Dream's shoulders to relax as well.
"He was panicking underwater," Sapnap said softly. Dream shook his head. He had specifically asked George to not do that.
"Does he need mouth to mouth?" Sapnap asked. Dream just shrugged his shoulders.
"I'm gonna try it just to be safe" Sapnap began.
"Please don't," George said faintly.
"George!" Both Dream and Sapnap said simultaneously. George began coughing. He didn't stop either. He continued to cough and cough. The others became worried he was going to throw up with how much he was coughing. He was breathing heavier and heavier.
"Is there water in your lungs?" Sapnap tried. George shook his head.
"Oh- Oh! I think he's hyperventilating! George breathe! Stop!" Dream said rushing over. He put a hand to George's mouth. If he kept it up much longer he'd pass out.
"Oh... oops," Sapnap said. Dream felt the same. They had sat there and let him cough and panic. "Deep breaths" Sapnap tried to say as George attempted to breathe through Dream's hand that was latched over his mouth.
"What do we do?" Dream said, half hugging, half suffocating George.
"Try taking the hand and leg restraints off!" Sapnap said as if it were an epiphany. George looked very annoyed with how long it took the two idiots. If he was in a regular state he would most likely be telling them they shared a singular brain cell. But instead, he felt himself getting dizzy.
"Hurry!" he heard. Why did it sound so far away? That's odd. He felt tired. He didn't want to deal with them. He would deal with them later, yeah that sounded nice.
"Oh, shit he passed out." Dream said, removing his hand from George's mouth.
"God, we're so stupid," Sapnap said. Dream let out a laugh.
"George would've said that." Sapnap laughed as well.
"He would've."
