I must have dozed off at some point because when I next open my eyes the sky is a dark grey, the sun will be coming up soon. I turn my head as a door opens and spot Raven coming out of Rowan's room, I nearly fall out my chair in my haste to get up.
"Is he alright? Can I see him?" I question her quickly.
"He's doing fine, I administered the Lycanthrope which you no doubt could tell, it has started to help him as his bones are mending nicely." Raven answers professionally. "He's waking up now, so yes you can see him. One at a time!"
Raven had to holler the last sentence because I bolted into Rowans room the moment she said I could. As I slide through the door my eyes dart to Rowans, he's laying propped up slightly on the bed, clearly just waking up after passing out from the Lycanthrope. I walk to the left side of his bed and take his hand in mine, squeezing lightly. Rowan smiles as he looks up at me, he's so thin and weary, I feel like I could apply a small amount of pressure and I'd break him, a tear rolls down my cheek at his condition.
"Rowan" I call softly, my voice cracks a little and my brows furrow in concern. "How are you feeling?"
"I'm fine, love." Rowan says trying to reassure me.
"Don't lie to me Rowan" I growl half heartedly
"Yes, Alpha" Rowan replies with a mischievous twinkle in his eyes.
"Oh Goddess I've missed you."
Leaning over his bed, I hug him as gently as I can trying not to hurt him too much, I let a few tears fall on his shoulder before I pull away and scowl, hitting him on the shoulder.
"Don't you ever do that to me again! You have no idea what you put me though! I was so worried" I admonish him crossly.
"Hay, you can't blame me. I didn't know they were on our trail. I never stopped thinking of you. Now you're here and you're safe" Rowan says reaching up to try and place a hand on my cheek but I know I'm not ready for that, I intercept his hand with mine, making him frown slightly.
"I should have come sooner" I say meekly.
"You couldn't, you would have been captured if you came sooner. You needed to get stronger and train yourself and, from my hazy view, some friends" Rowan replies raising an eyebrow inquisitively.
"Just Sapphire, she's waiting for me outside. Your mum is out there too, if you want to see her."
"No, I'm enjoying being with you. It's been so long" Rowan says holding his hand out to me longingly, I grasp it, smiling slightly at him.
"I want to stay but I have a duty to take care of" I tell him grinning at him.
"A duty?" Rowan questions frowning, he doesn't remember our conversation earlier, I don't think he was even paying attention to what I was saying half the time.
"I am home and I am taking what is rightfully mine" I tell him proudly.
"Wait, you're going to be Alpha?" Rowan questions, his shocked expression is priceless.
"Yep" I grin popping the 'p'
"Are you sure? I mean with our past, can you handle it? Will you ever be able to trust people?" he asks watching me carefully.
"Well I trust Sapphire and Seraphina. I think I can do it. Those assholes are going on trial, I will make them be judged and sentenced properly" I inform him, squeezing his hand before placing it gently back on the bed. "I have to go, I can feel the pack getting restless."
"Okay, love. Good luck, take your beta with you. Oh and send my mother in please."
"Will do" I say before pausing for a moment then hastily pecking him on the cheek.
