Chapter 1
I was 7 when they found me. I was unconscious on their doorstep. Little old me curled in a ball covered by a blanket with a single piece of paper on top. All that it said was Take care of our Abigail nothing else. Now 9 years later on my 16th birthday I am leaving the orphanage and embarking on my adventure to hopefully learn about my past and decide my future. I took a deep breath and took one last look at the orphanage before walking away to follow wherever the road would take me.

I adjusted my bag moving my long blond hair out of the way as well making the bag slightly more comfortable on my shoulders. I had been walking for about three hours. I had made it to the next town where the bus station was, there I would take a bus to wherever I decided. Hadn't really made it that far in my planning process yet. The big bus sign finally came into view so I ran to the counter to buy the next ticket out. Thirty minutes later and I was on the road with a bag of salt and vinegar chips and a bottle of root beer in hand. I had chosen to go to a small town called Westwood, don't know why it just spoke to me, I'm not crazy I promise. Leaning back I closed my eyes and relaxed. Thinking back to when I first woke up that faithful day in the orphanage I remember how scared I was. The keeper came rushing in due to the fact that I was crying so loudly it could be heard a mile away. I remember how she pulled me into a hug and calmed me down, how she smelled like vanilla and gave such warm hugs. She was my mother, she shielded me from the demons hiding under my bed and was the ear to listen when I need to share, she was the best thing to ever happen to me. But than she died and I lost the only mother I ever had. That was a year ago. I'm not that fond of the new keeper, all the other children seem to like her but they were never as close to mother as I was. That first day mother asked me what I remembered but the problem was I didn't remember anything. It was as if I had no memories of anything. My mind was blank, I couldn't even remember my name. Mother told me my name was Abigail but that I would go by Abbey, she told me Abigail sounded like a girl that knew no fun that Abbey was the name of a girl that was filled with sunshine and that would be the girl I would become. I live by those words everyday even when she is gone I know that my heart is filled with sunshine I just need to keep living like there is no darkness in the world. But lately I have been finding it hard to share that sunshine, I guess I just need the right person to share that sunshine with.

I woke abruptly when the bus jolted to a stop. I had made it to Westwood. I grabbed my bag and exited the bus. I took in a big breath of air, it was so clean and fresh, cold and with a hint of pine tree, so different from back in the city where everything smelled of smoke and pollution. It was a nice change. I inspected my surroundings, I was surrounded by trees. Little shops were placed half hazardly around the town. I could spot a grocery store, a coffee shop and a small clothing store. Beside the bus station stood a gas station and if I squinted my eyes enough I could see what I believed to be the town hall. Everything you expect to be in a small town, it was perfect. I strolled down towards the coffee shop that was called The coffee bean, how unoriginal. As I opened the door a bell tinkled overhead. I ordered a mocha with more hot chocolate than coffee and sat down in a comfy chair beside a fireplace. The coffee shop held a cozy feeling, everyone was smiling and laughing having a good old time. The waitress came over with my mocha, her name was Kelly at least I think that's what she said.

"Thank you..."
"Kelly, It's Kelly. What brings you to Westwood?"
"A change of scenery I guess, in search of an adventure too. Oh do you know anywhere I can stay for a couple days?"
"Well down the road on the left there is a bed and breakfast. Mr and Mrs Bees run it. They are the nicest people you shall ever meet!"
"That sounds perfect, thank you"
"No problem sugar."

I swear I have never met a person with so much, how do I put this, "Sugar" in them. Kelly left me with my mocha with the largest smile I've ever seen. I'm not joking it spread throughout her entire face. I drank the last of my mocha grabbed my bag and exited The coffee bean but not before catching a flash of Kelly's giant smile. How much "pep" does that girl have?! Heading down the road again I followed Kelly's brief instructions and found the bed and breakfast and of course it was called Honey Bees B&B. Of course. Trudging up the pathway I was about to knock on the door when it flew open revealing a large lady dressed in all yellow sporting a giant smile that just seems to go with this town.
"Hello dear, my name is Mrs Bees and welcome to Honey Bees B&B. Come in, come in, would you like a room. Well of course you want a room. What a silly question"
I stood there wide eyed, this lady was even crazier than Kelly.
"Well don't just stand there dearie come in and make yourself at home. I will go find you a room. How many days will you be staying here. Never mind that we can figure that out later. Oh we have another girl staying here must be the same age as you. Oh you can be the best of friends, she's the a quiet one but I bet you can bring her out of her shell. Anyways follow me... Oh I didn't catch your name."
"Abbey, it's Abbey"
"Well Abbey I hope you have a wonderful stay here. This is your room. Breakfast is served downstairs at 8 o'clock sharp. We also serve dinner at 5:30 but you will have to find yourself lunch. I hope to see you this evening and we can all get to know each other. Ta Ta see you at dinner Abbey!"
I opened the door to the room I was staying in and was instantly blasted with the smell of honey. Scented candles were everywhere along with hanging ornaments that I was guessing were scented honey as well. Dropping my bag I jumped on to the bed and closed my eyes falling asleep. I woke up in a sweat, breathing heavily from the dream. The same dream just as any other night. I was lucky to go a day without remembering that dream. Rushing into the bathroom I freshened myself up so I could go downstairs for dinner. Opening the door, I was unaware of the girl behind it as she too was heading down for dinner. She hit the wall with a thump, emitting a groan I quickly slammed the door and rushed to her aid.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry! I didn't know you were there I swear!"
"It's okay, I'm fine. See not even a scratch and I promise there is sure to be no bump or damage what so ever."
"How can that be? I swung the door open. I'm sorry I'm rambling. Here I'll help you up."
"Thanks"
Giving her my hand I pulled her up
"I never caught your name, I'm Abbey."
"Shadow"
"Cool name. Let's head downstairs."
We went downstairs, having small talk. Shadow was a short girl with dark blue eyes that seemed to hold many secrets within, her black hair cascaded down her back in beach waves. She seemed like a girl hiding many secrets and with a dark past, hey what can I say my entire life I have always been able to read people and I am almost always right. We sat at the table with The Bees and another guest eating our mashed potatoes and chicken with the various other dishes set on the table. Everyone talked quietly no exact conversation at the table. Once everyone had finished we brought the plates to the kitchen and everyone headed upstairs to bed.
