Middle School:
"Are you sure they're gonna like me? You know that I'm different" I said to Mrs. Loe, the head of the adoption agency. "Of course they will! Just because you're special doesn't mean that you're any different from them. Every kid is unique in their own way. Besides, who wouldn't love my little Abigail?" she said smiling. Right, "little" Abigail. I'm in sixth grade and I need to be adopted soon. Oh yeah, and sure every "special" kid is an ice wizard. Boy if she only knew. I thought to myself. I sighed and swung my back pack over my shoulder and walked towards the door. "Bye Mrs. Loe" I said walking out. "Bye Abigail. Have a fun day at school".
The bus came about three minutes later as I waited at the end of the street. I got on and looked at the bus floor as I made my way to the back of the bus. Kids in the other seats snickered at me as I sat down in the farthest seat from the back. I plopped down in the seat and stared out the window as the bus drove away from the agency. The bus ride took about fifteen minutes and we had soon arrived at my new school. The other students filed off the bus pushing and shoving each other to see who could get off first. I was the last one off and I nodded and quietly said thank you to the bus driver. "You're welcome sweetie. Have a good first day" she replied.
"Abigail Gram" the teacher called out once we had found our way to our correct class rooms. "Here" I said raising my hand. She looked me up and down raising her eyebrow. "I take it it's you're first day at this school" she asked me. "Yes m'am" I said. "Well, my name is Ms. Parker. It's nice to meet you Abby". "It's actually just Abigail" I said looking down at the carpeted floor. "Tch..alright then...Abigail. You can sit down" Ms. Parker said.
The day past quickly which I was extremely grateful for. "Okay. Well it's that time, ladies and gentlemen" Ms. Parker said. I looked up looking confused. "Oh right. You're new. Everyday at 2:15 we have a break where the students are allowed to go outside and play" she said. "Oh, thank you" I said nodding.
I followed a group of girls outside, not even bothering to ask their names. "Sara, Jen, Lila! Look there's ice chrystals on the grass and it's only September!" a girl in front of me said. "Get real Mia! That's not ice!" another girl said. "Yeah! It can't be. Like you said it's only September" another voice said. The girl in front, who I assumed was Mia knelt down on the ground. This is totally ice! I don't know where it's coming from, but it's here" she said. I smiled to myself. It was amazing how awe struck they were about my tiny ice chrystals. It was always fun to create small ice chrystals when I'm bored "Ice is so pretty!" "You guys think that's pretty?" I asked grinning. "Yeah? Who the heck are you?" Mia said turning around with the other girls. Mia pushed herself to the front of the group again. "My name's Abigail. Watch this! I'm an ice wizard. I've got maker magic!". A couple of girls in the back of the small group laughed. Mia rolled her eyes, "Right! A wizard! I should've known. Where's your magical unicorn that you'll be riding home today?" Mia laughed. "I'm serious" I said to them. "Okay," another voice piped up, "prove it then". "Oh please Jennifer. There's no such thing as an ice wizard! Mia was using sarcasm!". "I will. I swear it" I said taking my hands out of my pockets and placing them together. "You guys are gonna think it's so pretty". I stepped back and clasped my hands together. I tilted my head back so I was looking at the sky. "Ice make shied!" I yelled. I ripped my hands apart and threw my ice at the ground. It formed the shape of a shield and I sighed in relief that my magic had worked. It had been slightly sketchy over the last coule or weeks. They're gonna think I'm so cool now! The girls screamed. "You're a freak! You're unnatural!" Mia glared. "Hey wait...you guys said you wanted to see my maker magic" I said confused. "I bet your whole heart is made of ice. I thought it was bad enough that you look like an ugly pig, but now that your heart is coated in your ice "magic", you'll never get a boyfriend" Mia spat. "W-what? I thought you thought that ice was pretty. Isn't it beautiful?" I asked pointing at the gleaming ice next to me. "Abigail, you're an ugly, shameful, freak show. No one wants to be around you and you'll never find anyone who loves you!" Mia said.
