the monsters that keep you awake

how feeble you are

when in sleep.

the millions of ways you could die,

disappear,

thinking that blankets are enough to protect you.

but the demons that hold you still,

they come back every night.

you wake up and realize you're chained down.

dread fills you,

everything.

trembling

for minutes that distort into hours.

[ imagine: ]

you can't escape.

and then your pulse stops beating

and the creepers,

out of pity,

they don't kill your conscious.

you are put in a casket,

buried hundreds feet under

while the tiny creatures eat you alive.

[ stop. ]

the scenarios the fill your head,

you pray that it won't ever happen.

it scares you

and tears roll down your cheeks.

just irrational fears,

imagine the worst.
