Chapter 30 - The Scroll

Nathan knelt by the fire, warming up from the chill of the night air. The rest of the group was all slumped in various chairs in Nathan's lounge. 

Jake was unconscious again on the floor. Gabriel gently lifted him and took him to one of the bedrooms. Xavier followed anxiously after him. Gabriel laid Jake in the bed and the covers pulled over him.

'We'll give him a few hours then we'll need to get going. Lucifer won't let this go. There are also others who will come looking.' Said Gabriel

Xavier nodded.

'I'll stay with him. Let me know when we need to go.'

Gabriel put his hand on Xavier's shoulder.

'He's going to be alright. You'll see.'

Gabriel left the brothers alone. Xavier sat next to the bed and adjusted the covers around Jake's neck.

'It's going to be ok now. We got you out. I won't let it happen again' said Xavier just above a whisper.

'How is he?' said Jinn as Gabriel entered the lounge.

'He will be fine, just needs some rest. Xavier is staying with him'

Pian and Drago had returned to their respective bedrooms to get some rest after the night's events. Nathan was sitting in one of the high back chairs sipping an infusion of tea. 

Nathan put his cup down on the table next to his chair and offered Gabriel a cup. He accepted gratefully. Handing Gabriel the tea, Nathan sat back down.

'When do you think he will be ready?' asked Nathan

Gabriel rubbed his chin thoughtfully.

'I think he will need a day or two then you can begin'

Jinn looked between Nathan and Gabriel and asked

'So what happen now?'

'We wait' said Nathan picking up his tea again.

'I will have to get back. I need to get my daughter out of the mansion. I need to get to The Detachment as well, get them ready for any repercussions' said Gabriel.

Nathan nodded.

'I will take care of the boys. Jinn you are welcome to stay here?'

'If that's OK, I am not sure that I can show my face at the mansion.' said Jinn.

'Agreed' said Gabriel

'You should stay here. I will take Pian and Drago with me. I have a promise to fulfil'.

Jinn stood and shook Gabriel's hand.

'IAM protect you Gabriel, I hope everything is ok at home.'

Jinn left the room. Nathan finished his tea.

'I will contact you as soon as Jake is ready.' said Nathan.

He started to say something else, but stopped.

'What is it Nathan? You have never held out on me before.'

Nathan studied the bottom of his teacup for a few moments; finally he spoke.

'Do you really think that the Drakim will rise again? There are so few of us left and those of us that survived this long are scattered not just across Xaria, but Earth as well.'

Gabriel sat in the chair across from Nathan.

'I fear we will need all our allies before we are finished. If what Jinn said is correct and by what I have seen in the plans, I suspect it is. Lucian plans to attack Xaria.'
