It was a Friday and I was walking to school while bringing flowers for my best friend, Ashley, because she said she wanted to tell me something, so I headed towards the school tree but she was not there all that was there was a note nailed on the tree and I read it and said:

"Dear Tommy,

I'm so sorry that I couldn't see you, it's because I'm moving to Florida, because my father got a job promotion to go to Florida, I was suppose to move on Saturday, but it was moved to today. I'm so sorry"

I drop the flowers and fall on my knees and tears start to fall.

Days after that, I couldn't focus in school, every time I got an assignment I would just stay quiet put my head down. My classmates didn't even ask what was wrong with me, most of them would throw crumpled paper or shoot spit ball from a straw. After all that happened I would always break down and run out of the classroom and run home to my mom's arms and cry.

A couple of hours later, I went to my room to cry and I look at the picture of my best friend that she gave me when we were eight, it was a picture of us at the school tree. I started to put it in my backpack and walked to the kitchen with backpack on, but then I hide I see my mom on the phone with the school I quietly pick up a phone and listen to the conversation about why I'm don't pay attention and why I'm not doing my work in or out of class and all there is on the papers are tears.

I drop the phone and I run out of the house while it is raining and I run to the bus station and sit down on the bench. Then I take the picture out of my backpack and cry. I imagine that she's still here and I would "hallucinate" and see her in front of me calling out to me to follow her, and she would run off and I'd yell "No don't go! Wait!"

So I ran in the middle of the street while holding the picture, she disappears and, then a car comes almost hitting me, before I ran back onto the sidewalk but then I trip at the edge of the sidewalk and the picture frame fells out of his hand and the frame cracked. Then I turn around and I go get up and I pick up the frame and continue to cry. I still wish to see her again and wish she didn't move away.

The next day I chose not to go to school so I went to a playground to sit on the swing to be alone to cry. Then I looked forward I see Ashley and running on the street and saying to stop running and to wait for me. A car speeds and accidentally hits me and I hit the ground with impact the man in the car was so scared and calls 911,emergency services and the ambulance comes quickly and they puts the me in the vehicle to drive me to the hospital for medical attention.

The hospital immediately calls my mother since she is an emergency contact and within 45 minutes she arrives at the hospital. My mother asked what happened.

The man who hit me, responded, "I'm so sorry I accidentally hit your son, he was in the middle of the street and I tried to push the brakes and trying to do the emergency brakes but they didn't work because I was driving to an auto repair shop to try to get it checked or fixed so I'm so sorry."

A nurse called Ashley's father since he was still an emergency contact, to inform him about what happened to Tommy. Ashley's father told Ashley and she asked to go see him. The father said that they could. So they went to the airport immediately, 3 hours later they arrived in Japan and went to the hospital that I was held at, and Ashley's father asked to be directed to the room I was placed in and when they did, Ashley ran into the room and saw me laying in a hospital bed still holding the picture she gave me, but with a cracked frame.

The doctor came in the room and said that there was good news and bad news, he said the good news was that I would survive but the bad news was that I may be in crutches or a wheel chair for a while.
