Before the gates were built to divide Drilis from Eloricia the two kingdoms lived a harmonious existence. That is until a war against witches resulted in what is now known as the Great Culling. A genocide of the last remaining coven. The feud was orchestrated by an Elemental, a witch capable of creating the four elements.
The King of Drilis, Caliban Athemus, sought to destroy that witch for her crimes against his kingdom, but before he could, with her final breathe she placed a curse upon his lands. As a result, Drilis experienced the worst agricultural destruction the continent had ever seen. Their people grew hungry.
A lack of resources led to violent raids against their neighbours to the north, Eloricia. As tensions grew the King of Eloricia, Corin Valerian, felt pressure to act and protect his people. He commissioned a wall to be built with one single set of gates which would divide the kingdoms. Guarded night and day by Elorecian soldiers, trade would continue under strict supervision.
Several years later, the royal family of Eloricia would travel to Drilis after an invitation of unity was accepted. Unfortunately, Prince Ryker would be the lone survivor of a horrific assassination. Drilis intended to take their neighbours land and destroy anyone who got in their way. This single act would lead to the war that ended the world.
Eventually there were few left to fight and even less to fight over. That is when the real nightmare began.
An army of demons rose from the depths of hell. Demons that did not sleep, wandered the lands, and flew through the skies. What was left of the earth began to wither and die. Fresh water would dry up and eventually so too would the oceans. Even the sun seemed to revel in the torture. Blistering heat was the only climate that remained.
The kingdoms had fallen, and humanity's reign was over.
