Third Person POV:

“Daddy? Mama?” 

Crying all alone, the little boy continued walking around the forest in circles. He felt as though he had been walking for days. He didn’t know which way he came in and which way was to go out. 

All that surrounded him was nothing but dense trees and thick bushes, making it impossible for him to remember which way he came from. 

“Where did you go? You didn’t leave Kai did you?” He cries harder at the thought that his parents had left him behind. Although he was young Kai always knew that his parents weren’t very fond of him. 

They would always shout at him whenever he dropped something or made a mistake in his homework. But he still loved them, it was only the three of them after all. Kai, his Mama and his Daddy, all living together in a small village in the land of Ishgar. 

After wandering for what seemed like hours, Kai had come across a small lake. There was an opening in the trees which allowed the sunlight to shine down warmly into the small open area. 

The poor boy was beyond exhausted. He had spent almost the whole day walking around on his own while bawling his eyes out. 

The small boy sat down tiredly onto the green grass below him, he spent a good thirty seconds rubbing his tired eyes which were dry and sore from crying. Kai lays down onto the soft grass, his eyes were drooping with drowsiness and soon before he even realises, 

He had fallen asleep.

Eyes slowly fluttering open, the sound of rustling became more clear. Quickly sitting up, Kai’s heart was about to leap out of his chest. There across the lake, staring right at him with glowing green eyes, was what seemed to be a big dog to him. It was a wolf. 

Growls rumbled out of the wolf’s mouth, making its way to Kai’s ears. The boy’s eyes immediately begin to water again. He tried his best to stay as quiet as he could, but the wolf started making its way towards him. 

Kai’s body was frozen, he was so scared he couldn’t even get up. 

The wolf was closing in on him, all of its big sharp teeth on display as it snarls. Closing his eyes tightly, Kai was too afraid to even look at the beast which was coming closer to him step by step. 

Suddenly, it went quiet. No sounds could be heard at all. Not even the sound of the wind, or trees rustling. 

Opening his eyes slowly, Kai yelped as he saw the big dog right in front of him. Quickly getting up from his seated position he turns around and runs away, in the short distance he could see a person. 

It was a lady. 

She had short black hair, and wore a long white dress. Kai felt a big wave of relief wash over him. He sees the lady crouch down, her arms opening widely. 

His feet moved faster, he was almost flying. Unable to stop, Kai crashed into the lady, her arms wrapping around him securely as they both tumbled onto the grassy floor. 

Eyes shut closed once more, they didn't open until he heard the sound of the lady's voice speaking to him. 

"Are you okay little one?" She asked him in a gentle tone. Her voice filled Kai up with warmth. Just being around her made Kai feel safe. “Uh huh-” he muttered to her. 

Looking back, he saw that the wolf had remained in the same spot. It was as if it had been frozen in place. Taking a look around Kai sees that everything has stopped. Nothing was moving, there were no sounds. The only thing he could hear was his own breathing. 

“What happened?” He asked the pale faced woman in confusion. She didn’t answer him, and instead gave him a smile.

“It’s okay.” She spoke kindly, “You’re safe with me.” Kai couldn’t say anything, this woman was the only other person he had seen in a while, it almost felt weird seeing someone else around again. 

“Come with me, I’ll get you cleaned and give you some food okay? You must be starving." She smiles. Kai nodded, “Okay…” 

“What’s your name little one?” 

“Kai...Huening Kai…” 

“Huening Kai huh?” 

“And how old are you Kai?” 

“I’m five…”

After being washed and fed, Kai had found himself lying comfortably on a soft bed. The lady, whose name was Yui and as Yui had told him apparently,

she was his guardian angel. 

Well, Kai believed her, she did save him after all. Yui had brought Kai back to her little cottage in the forest, it was a very cute home, not very big or luxurious but it was cozy. Unlike the forest he had recently been lost in, this part of the forest was very pretty, he found it calming and peaceful. Was it because he now had someone to help him? 

Yui brushed some of Kai’s hair away from his face. The little boy’s eyes were fighting to stay open, he was on the verge of falling asleep. 

“Say Kai.” Yui called him. “Yeah?” Kai turns his head to look at the woman. She gives him a warm smile, her hand still brushing through his hair. “Would you like to stay here with me from now on?” Yui asked the small boy. 

“You told me you didn’t have a mama or daddy right? So how do you feel about me looking after you?” She asked. Kai was quiet, his head told him no, she was still a stranger to him. What if she’s actually trying to kidnap him? What if she’s a bad person? 

But his heart said otherwise. His heart said yes, his heart trusted this woman and wanted to stay with her forever, he was so thankful that she saved him from that mean looking dog, if she saved him then she must be good. Right? 

“Can I?” Kai inquires with big doe eyes. Yui’s smile never left her lips, “Of course little one. I must say I’m quite lonely here by myself. I’d love to have some company.” She explains. “You don’t have a mama or daddy too?” Kai wonders. Yui chuckles, “No.” She spoke, “I don’t, so why don’t we stay here together hmm?” She suggested. 

She’s by herself too. Was what Kai thought. “Okay then!” He smiles for the first time since he was lost. No...it had been awhile since the little boy had smiled, Kai decided to trust his heart over his head. 

He’ll stay with her and keep her company.
