We were in 9th standard, just 3 or 4 months left for our final exams. That time Calvin GONCLAVES entered. He joined our class in a quite simple manner. He was an ordinary looking boy who was about 5'2 in height and had a pretty handsome face. During the first few days he was looking like a role model boy who was listening to the class eagerly and was very quiet. When teachers had not come to the class we would play hand cricket or something like that but he wouldn't join us. Two months passed .Then he slowly started to mingle with us and in a couple of weeks he became close to us. Exams came. then he started thinking that a girl started loving him. He only told about this to me and another boy Krishna Somasundaran when we were returning to our respective homes after the day of the first exam.
EVENING
It was a pleasant evening, we had four days holidays before our next exam which was 2L. I had already studied it, so I decided to go out and play with my friends. Calvin came too.
We all were playing cricket in the playground and suddenly Calvin hit the ball so hard, it flew out of the boundary.
"nice shot!" we all said in unison.
We were praising him for the score, while the other team decided to go search for the ball.
Behind the back scene
Unknown to any of us, the girls from our class were hanging out together too, laughing and talking. They were passing by the playground when DISHOOOOM!!
"What was that?!" Sara yelled as the ball hit her leg. "it really hurts!" she cried.
"Same old boys, they never changed a bit" some of her friends said looking at the ball.
"Enough of all this non sense. I will make sure this is the last time they do it"
"Lets go find them and teach them a lesson" a younger girl said.
Back to the present
They all came to us to find out who threw it like that.
"Hey, they are the guys from our class!" Sara sighed. "I wonder why THEY would do like that. Never mind, whoever it is, this is the LAST time they are doing this"
When she reached our group, she was about to yell at us when she stopped abruptly, staring at something (or rather someone, actually)
"I...Um I just came around to see what u guys were doing and say 'hello'" she said awkwardly, while her friends stared at her.
Shivanee, (one of our classmates), started objecting to Sara going, "Didn't you say you wanted to-"
"Hey, I completely forgot we had a test coming up" Sara cut off, changing the subject, "Gotta go, guys. Come on girls" She said in a rather strange tone. Then they all left. And there was silence for a while.
"Did you guys see that?" Krishna started, when they were out of earshot.
" I KNOW. I told you she loves me" Calvin said.
"Yup. I believe so, dude. Did you see how angry she was when she came up to us? I am sure she was gonna shout at us for accidentally hitting her" I agreed. Then the other team came back with the ball.
"What happened?" they asked.
"Oh, looks like the ball hit one of the girls accidentally, so they came to shout at us" Krishna said.
"Oh" I said, "so, lets continue the game, shall we?"
"I am tired, dude. Besides, I haven't studied much" Calvin began," so can we please call it a day now?" They all agreed and started leaving one by one when Calvin winked at me and Krishna and gestured for us to stay.
When the others all left, he began, " I always thought she loves me and after what happened now I totally sure of -"
" or MAYBE, she just has a crush on you, dude," Krishna interrupted. "you can't just jump to conclusions like that.."
We kept talking about the incident the rest of the evening that day.
He told us that his love should be secret, so we did not tell about it to anyone else. We used to wait for the girl Sara Arjun for Calvin after exam. We would return home after about 1 hour or so he used to always talk about her only. Days passed by, that was our last exam after that we had a vacation for about half month. He was desperate and sure that she loves him, he wanted to express his love and affection towards her. The exam started she was not in our room when we were writing the exam. Exam got over and Calvin, I AND Krishna WERE SEARCHING HER FOR Calvin BUT WE COULD NOT FIND HER!
