Jericho paced by the east gate. He looked up as Blaine came sprinting toward them.
'What's going on? The silent alarms been tripped'
Blaine held up a hand for a moment to get his breath back.
'We've got to get Danny and Sara out now. She's going to be used as bait to get to Jake.'
Aria pointed towards Gabriel's apartment in the distance.
'I think they are already ahead of us.'
They could just make out the outlines of Danny and Sara. They were climbing down from the balcony. Danny dropped lightly to the floor and waved to Sara to follow.
She swung her leg over the balustrade and began to lower herself down. Her foot found a hanging basket bracket. She tested it to see if it would hold. Placing one foot on it she lowered herself further down until she was clinging onto the base of the balcony. One of her hands slipped.
'Just drop and I'll catch you' said Danny as loud as he dare.
Jericho and the rest of the detachment were running to help them. There was a crack and the hanging basket gave way. It hit the patio below with a clatter. Sara dropped knocking Danny from his feet as he broke her fall.
Reboaz signalled to the platoon to check out the noise. The Razok platoon ran towards Gabriel's apartment. They rounded the corner of the building as Sara was heaving Danny to his feet.
They surrounded the pair. Reboaz and Javen hadn't moved from their audience with Lucian. A Razok demon came running into the courtyard. He came to a stop as he reached Reboaz and bowed waiting to be addressed.
Lucian had to restrain himself, thousands of Drakim warriors and their families had been hunted by the Razok, revenge boiled up in his mind as all he wanted to do was run it through with a blade. Lucian inclined his head towards the Razok and Reboaz turned to the demon still bowed by him.
'What is it?' Reboaz asked impatiently.
'My lord we have the girl and another surrounded. It seems they were in the building after all'
'Who is the other?' said Reboaz, now intrigued.
Lucian spoke 'I will leave you to your sport Reboaz.'
Reboaz bowed and set off with the Razok demon back across the courtyard. Javen bowed and was about to leave when Lucian caught his arm.
Speaking just above a whisper he addressed Javen
'Make sure you pick your allies and your enemies wisely young Javen for when this is over the Master you serve and the Razok will be no more, do not be found guilty by association.'
Javen pulled his hood back over his head.
'I will contemplate your words Lord Lucian'
Lucian let go of his arm
'Make sure that you do. For when the Drakim rises again, make sure that you do not become one of their targets, it would be a shame for someone with so much promise to be snuffed out because of the company he keeps.'
Javen bowed and hurried across the courtyard after Reboaz. Lucian looked up at the stars and took a deep breath.
'The sound of war approaches' he said to himself and he went back to the house.
Reboaz rounded the corner to see Sara and Danny standing ready to fight the platoon of Razok warriors.
